Of all our remaining Rfas gunner was the least I cared about retaining. Good to see he not only was over paid, but first to sign, and over rated by our fans. So happy.

I love where the leafs priorities are set and I agree

The numbers I've been reading for weeks are, Gunner isn't worth more than 2.5, fraser isn't worth more than 1.5, Franson isn't worth more than 3.5 and Kadri isn't worth more than 3.5, all of which just happened to tuck nicely under the cap. I'm not saying you did, but pretty much a lot of guys, even looking back at this thread, guys were thinking gunner would 2-2.5, the LEafs cap is broken without question as I've been saying since the Bernier deal. They must move someone out. Of course, we all want to see Liles moved, but with the cap going down, I just can't imagine a team making that trade - even for a bag of pucks.

So we got people who say gunner is.not suitable for phaneuf and others saying hes good on 3rd pairing. Yet 3M justifies him when we have replacements in our system? If franson or kadri are not signed, Nonis is pathetic.

How is it based on potential? 34g a year isn't proving something? Being a dominant player for two years (which Hall is) isn't proving something?

Gagner signed for market. Especially when looking at guys like Bozak and Grabs. Actually, the Hemsky deal was the initial one that gave Grabs his deal which has subsequently inflated the 2-3 centre costs.

I think Gagner would have gotten 5mil at arbitration, but took a bit less to get a NMC for a couple of his UFA years. I'm happy enough with the signing, considering I doubt there was a better solution for the Oils 2C.
