Liles and reimer need to be packaged. It's obvious bernier is the #1 considering he makes 1 mil more than reimer. You don't sit him on the bench for that. I don't know how nonis pulls this one off but may have to move a pick along with reimer and liles for a large ticket Dman; just not many out there and not many teams that need a goalie (Calgary?). Hate moving picks but our time to make a move/run is now not in a few years. Move one of the D prospects (finn, percy, blacker, etc if you have to).

I also wouldn't be surprised if kule was dealt and colborne fills in his spot along mcclemant and bolland. I like kule's 2 way game but his deal is up next year and we will need to free up room to resign bolland / mcclemant even with the cap going up.

This will be a tough spot for us to get out of, but as much as I love the character and improvements we've added, without an upgrade over liles (who is a capable dman just doesn't fit in with us) we won't get by the 2nd round.

If they can't unload Liles on someone this means Phaneuf is gone. He may be gone anyway. I can't see the Leafs having the cap to sign both Phaneuf and Kessel... Those two will cost 15 million between them.

Of all our remaining Rfas gunner was the least I cared about retaining. Good to see he not only was over paid, but first to sign, and over rated by our fans. So happy.

Gunnarsson is a top 4 D-Man. It's good value at $3.15M.
If ever necessary, it won't be hard to move Gunnarsson.

The numbers I've been reading for weeks are, Gunner isn't worth more than 2.5, fraser isn't worth more than 1.5, Franson isn't worth more than 3.5 and Kadri isn't worth more than 3.5, all of which just happened to tuck nicely under the cap. I'm not saying you did, but pretty much a lot of guys, even looking back at this thread, guys were thinking gunner would 2-2.5, the LEafs cap is broken without question as I've been saying since the Bernier deal. They must move someone out. Of course, we all want to see Liles moved, but with the cap going down, I just can't imagine a team making that trade - even for a bag of pucks.

Gunnar at 3.15 is a fine deal. 3 years in the prime of his career. I don't understand why some folks would have a problem with this
