A few hilights from the Season Ticket Holders Q and A that took place tonight (video is available on Youtube) ;
-The Sedins WILL be re-signed this season (from Gillis himself).
-Gillis and Tortorella are both really high on Horvat (what else are they going to say...but it seemed very genuine).
-The NHL doesn't think there's a problem with the officiating and doesn't care (paraphrase from Bill Daly).
-Brule will not get a PTO with Vancouver.
-Tortorella once made Pavel Kubina cry (from Tortorella himself). - Fosco
What else would they say, if they admit to a problem it opens them up to questions about the playoff games being decided in the boardroom beforehand (which they are) and referee bias against certain players (case in point Auger vs. Burrows)

I found they became what they loathed. A commercially successful pop band. - bloatedmosquito
My favorite band of all time. Those guys music can sometimes seriously put me in a trance. I own so much nirvana memorabilia it's enough to make some people sick.

Really? Of all time?
didn't think they had a large enough library to qualify. must have been at the right time at the right age for you. I think everyone has a band that defined their formative years.

For me, it was marley. explains a lot I guess... - bloatedmosquito
I'm only 24. Didn't even know who nirvana was when Kurt took his life. Inwas introduced to them in grade nine and never looked back. I say they're my favorite because no band has ever had such a huge immediate impact on me like they did. But of course I also love zeppelin, Beatles, stones ccr blah blah blah. The same bands everyone loves.
At my young age I wouldn't even doubt if I've seen more bands from the sixties and seventies than the older gents in the forum. Inwas born in the eighties but raised in the sixties. My parents deffinitley brought me up right when it comes to good music.

They had so much play time for awhile I loathed listening to them. You couldn't escape their music. I like them much more 20some years later.

I think at the very least they should say it's something they're looking into and hope to address.
It's not like they gain anything except more angry fans by trying to pretend there's no problem—anybody who watches the game even semi regularly can see that it's a MAJOR issue.
They're not pulling the wool over anybodies eyes by claiming the reffing is fine.

You're expecting quite a bit out of the crew that just recently admitted there might be a problem in Phoenix.

that's the difference. I'm 42. didn't really pay attention to nirvana but I was pissed off when kurt killed himself. here's a guy who struggled to be heard and yet killed himself when people started to listen.

Yeah, that pre-season really raised his stock in many Canucks fans eyes, and I even remember AV being quite impressed, although I think his comments were blown out of proportion....mainly because he rarely praised prospects.
Agreed about the style AV wants his younger guys to play.
It's not a bad thing to preach good two-way play, and prospects and young players should always try to improve at both ends, but some prospects are never going to be great two way players.
They can still be valuable assets to the team if they're put in a position to use their strengths, and AV never seemed to realize this, or adapt his system to utilize the skills these players/prospects could bring—Hodgson and Grabner being prime examples, even Kassian to a degree.
Hopefully the new staff will be different and guys like Jensen can contribute without worrying that they'll be benched or demoted if they make a single mistake in the defensive end. - Fosco
We drafted you in the first round because you can do this. Now don't do that ever again.
It clear they were trying to 'break them' to make them more defensively aware, but it was sad seeing how lost Kassian and other rookie forwards looked. You can almost see the confidence leaking out of them. Hopefully the new coaching staff will allow the younger players more freedom to get creative while still teaching them to be defensively responsible when they don't have the puck.

Ysh, He was deffinitley his own worst enemy. The book about him called "Heavier than heaven" Reveals a lot about his horrible childhood.

Fair enough.
Even the token brush off response that I posted is less insulting to the fans' intelligence than simply saying there's nothing wrong.
It's not like they didn't admit there were issues several years ago when they claimed they were going to start enforcing the clutching, grabbing, and hooking. Unfortunately, they've reversed that decision...

It all depends on what game, the opponents, the refs, the score, and the network broadcasting the game. completely arbitrary.
