I have been working in the Airline business for the past 36 years and most fares haven't gone up in years , in fact they have come way down. In Canada we have all of the privately run Airport Authorities who add very high fees onto the purchase of a ticket and then all of the government taxes are added on as well. The airlines are making very little money or in most cases no money from ticket sales. The little money they do make is from baggage fees , change fees and third party contracts.

Absolutely. I've been in the industry for 14 years myself in varying positions. Used to be a pilot before I got sick and lost my medical. While it may not seem like it to some, it's never been cheaper to fly.

Can't wait to see them again in Chicago with Dave Chappelle. Saw them in TO back in 2009 - they were awesome.

What is this world coming to when a guy has to feel sorry about an accomplishment like that...
- Fosco

Think Proteau's point was that only a Canadian would be saying sorry.

Not true. I think the cost thing is overblown. I regularly sell my tickets for $40 per seat per game. I have 2nd row upper bowl. Good seats. I paid $40 for two seats at the whitecaps game. MLS is like the 20th best soccer league in the world. What the hell was I paying for?
For twice the price you can watch the best hockey players in the world. You don't need to buy food and drink. It's only 3 hours.
But if you are from out of town then yes it starts to get expensive. But that's not the canucks fault.

Yes it is, I blame the Canucks for living on the Island, wait, what? Never mind, I like it just fine over here

This is happening?

That would be an incredible show!

I thought Chapelle was still in his steroid using reclusive islamic extremist phase...?

Oh, and I accidentally reported your post (on an IPhone).

Hopefully any mod that sees it realizes that it was reported for awesomeness, not offensiveness

Why don't you at least wait until Jensen gets a fair evaluation period before you start moaning about him as a prospect.

Could still turn out as good or better than many of the players picked in the top 10 of that draft.

- Fosco

Saw him play a 2011 pre-season game against San Jose. He dominated that game and looked like one of the top 3 players on the ice. I don't think the few shifts he played with the Canucks last year are representative of his abilities.

He looked like so many other prospects who've come up over the last few years. It's almost as if Vigneault tells every rookie "We'll allow you to play a few shifts as long as you don't do anything. If you take any risks or make any noticeable plays, you're sitting."

AV wanted everyone to follow the Alex Burrows/Ryan Kesler path. You have to establish yourself as a third or fourth line drone checker before you're allowed to demonstrate any offensive instincts or talent. Look at how Schroeder was used this past season as another prime example. Undersized forward selected for his offensive talent is playing on the fourth line with tacking dummies while Lapierre and a winger with no experience as a center play ahead of him. Any wonder these guys lose their confidence and fail to meet expectations?

Going back to Pavel Bure and Trevor Linden, what other top 6 type forwards other than the Sedins have been allowed to establish themselves as offensive stars on the club's roster?

Somewhat true but not to the same extent as airfares, I bought a new Camaro in 1979 for $7200 , even the cheapest new cars have doubled in price.

Let's put it this way, at least at this juncture in history you're not being summoned to fight in a Crusade or burned at the stake for your vocal disobedience.

You've got me on Domino's though.

Not to bring this convo back to hockey, but I am pissed that Phanuef made the short list for the Olympic team. He is the most overrated player in the league.

But that's called inflation. And yes, airfare has also gone up. I recall buying a RT from LA to London in the late 90's for about $300. True story. Still, see my quality comment which has taken hold in nearly every aspect - seating space, having virtually every flight full, paying for luggage, paying for onboard food... I'm just waiting for a coin operated toilet system to emerge. And none of this even takes into account the joys of airports in a post 911 world...
