$7 doesnt even get you a beer at Rogers. - fiveandagame
GM Place used to have small or large beer. I asked them what the difference was. She said they fill up the large (lots of foam still). With a straight face. So $7 used to get you about 2/3 of a beer. Now it gets you a pop. |

Actually, a large pop's now $9.50, a coffee is $7.50, so it doesn't even get you a drink... maybe a hot dog, but it wouldn't be a smokie.

It's impossible for me to go to a game. I live out of town and between tickets, hotel, parking, food, drink etc. It would cost me between $800-$1000 for the night. For ONE freaking game! I would love to take my son one day but I don't see it happening any time soon. The good news is, if I start saving now I will get a chance to see guys like Corrado, Shinkrauk, Horvat and Gaunce ect, once they hit their prime. |

I saw some TO to Ft Lauderdale specials the other week for $300 something. If it's not cheaper it's at least a similar price but you get a vacation in Florida to boot which is pretty awesome come mid-winter. |

It probably would be cheaper. Then I could also spend a day or 2 on the beach in the middle of winter. |

Yeah. The lack of domestic airline competition in Canada has the prices jacked permanently high. The prices I've paid to fly to TO often rival direct flights to Europe. |

It's not so much the lack of competition. It's the higher fees and the frequency of flights. If westjet could expand their market share by lowering the prices - they certainly would. That and AC wouldn't be loosing money as badly as it has been in the last little while.

I would say taking Schneider out and putting in Lack makes us weaker is a fact not an opinion
Even though I want Raymond and Laperiere gone replacing them with Richardson and the Italian guy makes us weaker is more of a fact than an opinion. - VANTEL
That remains to be seen doesn't it? Without seeing Lack play, you cannot determine it as fact one way or the other. Not to mention that a backup goalie has only a small impact on a team.......
I also dont think you could get any worse than Raymond or Lapierre....I'd say Richardson for Lapierre is a wash and dead air is an improvement over Raymond......but thats my opinion not fact.......get the difference? |

So basically whatever you say is fact, and whatever someone else says is opinion. And an incorrect opinion at that.
Gotcha. - djamon

You mean Bambi on ice.... no loss there..... a couple reg season goals... first round exits with no goals by bambi.... what a loss..................... and yeah no one has signed him........
edit.... only downside is we can't play the drinking game where you drink every time he falls down. |

Lots of factpinions that everyone is making. I will give mine. Torts could also make us worse. There is a reason he has been fired both from TB and NYR. He could also be the guy that makes us a champion. Anything is possible. I do think Lu is not as good as CS right now. Based on the play of both goalies last year and when looking at the numbers Lu will give up 36 more goals over an 82 game season. I think LU will bounce back and have a better year but I don't think it will be a 2.11 GAA that CS had. Plus I would be shocked if the backup Goalies had a GAA in the in the low 2's.
If you just take LU's GAA over the last 5 seasons. (2.34, 2.57, 2.11, 2.41,2.56) one can clearly see he will most probably land in the 2. 25 - 2.45 range. Torts block shots and defensive system will be a huge factor in what happens with our overall GA allowed total. - Bluechip23
So because a coach got fired, he will make a team worse? Even the great Scotty Bowman was fired by the Buffalo Sabres and forced to leave the St Louis Blues by management. Does that make him a poopty coach? I didn't think so......
Torts could possibly cause this team to implode but he's just as likely to help this team succeed also....time will tell...... |

Also, the fact that it's highly unlikely that both Booth and Kesler have injury issues as bad as they did last season means that the secondary scoring will likely get better before it gets worse. |

On top of that, not only was Kesler injured for the majority of the past two seasons, but he was also injured for both off seasons. Last time he was healthy for an off season he shot 100 pucks a day and had a career season. He's already said he's doing the same this summer. I expect a big year from #17. |

Exactly. It could go either way. I never once stated they would be worse as a fact. I just merely said just because its a new coach doesnt always mean its going to better like a lot of people on here are saying. The coach especially someone like Torts could implode the team like you mentioned or it could light a fire and we win the presidents cup again. Somewhere in the middle is probably the answer to the two extremes. |

I have a feeling me and VANTEL are the only ones hoping to blow this ship up after this year and start from scratch.
Window is closed people, Stop looking at this team through rose coloured glasses. - vancity787
the responses you two get from other canuck fans in denial are about the same as I get when I suggest to Isles fans that I'm okay with the Isles taking a step back this season if it means more of their prospects get their feet wet in the NHL. Reality is a female dog.

Flying within the US is dirt cheap. I fly from Bellingham all the time to LA or Phoenix. My wife and I are off to LA this weekend and our flights together taxes included are 500 bucks return.
I cant even fly to kamloops for 250 return. I love the US. I shop there all the time especially since I live at the border as well.

Most other Canucks fans are far more in tune with the reality of this team.
It is no longer a top contender, and I don't see too many claiming it is, but it is still a competitive team.
If youth doesn't step up, and the coaching change doesn't have positive results the downward trend in competitiveness is likely to continue.
It's still no reason to constantly female dog and moan and expect that the worst case scenario is an inevitability. |

the way I see it, they have the pieces to make some noise if they get hot. I doubt they'll finish as division winners and I don't expect them to win in the playoffs BUT, all you need is a hot streak to do some damage.
The window is closing for sure but if 8th seed teams can make it to the cup final (although with long odds) then all you really need to do is make it to the dance. If the Isles had even a bad goalie they may have beaten Pittsburgh. Unfortunately we had a terrible performance by Nabby.
