I just don't see any offer sheets being thrown his way. After the initial free agent frenzy, it has died down a lot and we're now seeing the effects of a lower salary cap. If a team is looking for an rfa to sign to an offer sheet, there are more attractive ones imo.

Nobody is offer sheeting Rangers property. It does not happen.

Someone is going to end up with a decapitated horse's head in their bed if they do.

I see Stepan getting 5 years 22.5 million. That's 4.5 mil a year, good deal for Rangers.

i can't believe pominville isn't invited to usa camp,i would have him on my team, and i would take stepan over basically every other center they have, including kesler etc., and i believe he'll prove me right next season. my team usa would be

parise-kesler-kane
ryan-stepan-wheeler
brown-backes-cally
JVR-pavelski-kessel

suter-yandle
mcd-buff
j. johnson-shattenkirk

quick
miller

pacioretty, oshie, orpik and bogo or gardiner

I think with team Canada putting Staal on the list is great news ! With all the players they have to pick from I'm sure they know Staal will be fine . Why list him if they are not sure he will be available for camp evaluations ?
- way out west

I always felt staal would be fine. There's no way he plays that game in the playoffs if it's career threatening. He looked out of place that game but it looked more like being out of game shape than his eye. Of course his eye contributed a bit but I think the speed of the game was the main reason he seemed off.

Once he adjusts, which im sure he's already been on the ice practicing, and gains confidence in taking a hit and delivering one, he will be back to normal.

If it was just rust and the speed acclimation of the game, I think he would have played the rest of the playoffs. But he didn't. I think it was the 2 blindside hits that he received when holding the puck. One in the corner and one right in front of the crease. I think that factored a lot into him not playing anymore.

Not sure he was willing to try to shake off rust for a few games when it's do or die. He felt he was a liability, which he was, which is why he chose to sit out. Also, he woke up the next morning with bad headaches as a result of playing so his eye definitely contributed to it, bur again, he would never ever play that game if it would risk his career and his eye was THAT bad that it will still be unplayable months later for training camp.

Marty Biron has played in 7 NHL games since March 5th 2012, and turns 36 in a couple of weeks.

The Rangers have 12 back to back games this year and Lundqvist is expected to try and lead Sweden to the Gold medal in February.

I hope Biron is working out right now.

I think a deal with Toronto for Reimer could be an interesting one, although I don't know what it would take to make that happen.

I think youre underestimating how difficult it is to come back to playing hockey, especially if your first game back is in the playoffs against the hottest team in the NHL, after being out for a prolonged amount of time.

I didn't say anything was easy, I was pointing out the 2 hits Staal took where it was obvious he had no idea it was coming. Both hits knocked him right onto the ice while he had the puck. Staal is not the type of Dman that physically gets manhandled like that, at most he stands up to the hit and may lose the puck battling. But he was clearly surprised and knocked right off his feet both times. To me, that indicates a peripheral vision problem and that can be scary if you can't feel a checker coming.

Yeah, I know it was a complete joke. But it would be nice to invest in the next franchise goalie. By the time Lundqvist is 36, Gibson would be 25 they could start sharing the starts.

He looks very promising. Time to stick Alaire on him!!

Problem though, he is 24 years old. Will probably be more trade bait than anything else. Goaltending unfortunately is all about timing and cycles. We need the best goalie that is around 18-21 years old right now to properly fit our cycle's needs. By the time Lundqvist starts to decline (36-40), Malcolm will already be 30 years old.

We can assume all we want, was the vision a problem? Maybe, probably more of an inconvenience combined with a lot of rust.
