Cooke rarely laid out a "big hit" and when he did it was for hitting the head or boarding. Kunitz is a better hitter than Cooke. You act like no one on the team will hit now...

There is only life BC and AC. BC you are fine but AC you are stuck in a wheel chair.

Kuni has really toned down his hitting, Cooke hit someone every chance he had. No one on our team has that mind set now. We are a soft team.

Crosby, Letang, Neal, and Kunitz, yes Kunitz, were invited to Team Canada's Olympic camp.

Fleury was not invited.

Edit: Jordan Staal was also given an invite.

Very cool! Here's hoping that Scuderi, Martin, and Orpik get invited to Team USA's Olympic camp.

All three will definitely get the invite IMO, I do not believe all 3 will make the team though.

maybe pure talent and flash wise, yes there are guys you could find that are definitely better than kunitz. but if youre looking for a balance team with guys that can grind but still have relatively pretty darn good skill, kuni's worth at least a look

wouldve never said so this time last year, but out of those three martin deserves it the most in my eyes. orpik may provide some physicality, but especially on a bigger ice surface, i think a healthy martin is invaluable

I totally agree. Martin made the team 4 years ago (but didn't play due to an injury) and if he plays how he did when healthy this season I have a strong feeling that he will make it again this year. I agree that on the bigger surface his skating and puck movement skills could prove to be even more helpful.

My only question is:

How could they leave Matt Cooke off the invite?

Also, I am suprised Jamie Benn didn't get invited.

I was very surprised by Benn not being invited. He deserves it more than Neal or Kunitz IMO.

I agree with Neal. I think Kunitz will be hard in the running because of how he plays with Crosby.

If they took the soft Shark line in 2010 because of chemistry, they have to consider taking Kunitz for Crosby and St. Louis for Stamkos.

Also St. Louis won the Art Ross this season.

yeah. im not exactly the most qualified international GM, but when you have this much talent to pull from, i would prefer to try and achieve a little balance as far as roles going on the team. the talent level on an international scale is very high, but a lot of the same basic principles are the same. im not saying you bring a guy like penner aboard just because he is big, but you still need guys who can go in the corner and get the puck. kunitz excels at that in a big way.

The nice thing about Kunitz is that he is from the Mike Richards model. They can get in hunt the puck down and be physical about it, but they are quicker and can still be effective in other aspects on the bigger ice surface.

Don't get me wrong, on NHL sized ice Lucic is the perfect forechecking forward. In an international situation though, his size and lack of speed can hinder him.

Also that is why I think Taylor Hall should make the team. His speed on that big of ice would be such a weapon.

All talk about Fleury. I’m a bit surprised #TeamCanada wouldn’t consider Pascal Dupuis. Chemistry w/87, good PK, even-strength goals, speed.

I would have been speechless..... oh wait no I wouldn't.. I would have called BS and ransacked someone
