Probably not . Edmonton is what it is when you play in Columbus or Pittisburgh or Winnepeg or Minnesota....but after the wife and kids are accustomed to a place like San Jose? If the Oil were in a position where a guy was maybe a missing piece it might be different for a 2-3 yr run. But that ain't us anytime soon.

Next year when he's a UFA I'd take a shot at him on a 2-3 year deal. His size, reach, and elite playmaking would be crazy feeding a sniper like Yakupov

I will say this I'm not sure Gagner is worth 5mil, but the fact remains at 5mil he fits into our salary structure and losing him would hurt a lot more than overpaying the guy.

Maybe I don't see everything you guys do on him because I'm on the East Coast but it seems I always hear about the team trading him or him not being the right fit moving forward for the Oilers. I never hear positive articles about his play. Mostly are all about how he isn't what they need.

He is my favorite of the Oilers. He has more heart than most Oilers. He seems to want to be a leader. I think he will earn the money.

We need more size all around on the team. His name gets thrown into trade rumors because he's not that tall (5'11) and he's a quality player that could fetch a decent return. But without him this team would be far too thin at center.

I think the Fans poop on him the most. Gagner really just flies under the radar as a whole. A lot of the trade talk is simply because he isn't a #1 center and is one of the more tradeable assets that we could be willing to give up.

With that being said the NMC doesn't kick in until next year, so trade talks aren't going away.
