Well the thing is with Backes and Roy taking up the top two spots I can't see them being dangerously opposed to moving him
- Suckitcrosby

theyre a team built on depth. they don't even have a true number 1 line. just 3 great ones.

Yes I did, Asshole.

I apologize if I'm from planet Earth.

You're batsh1t crazy if you deny the greed of these players. Gagner even mentioning 5.5 million is (frank)ing ridiculous. If I were in charge of the world (which is only a matter of time) I'd have the (frank)er beheaded.

but why would st.loo move him?

I am saying he is more easily pryed away then other options. Sometimes you don't look for the guy being shopped, you look for the guy that may have an easy to swallow asking price

Gagner will get $4.75 at arbitration, and he'll get a two year deal so the arbitrator doesn't have to see him next year. He'll be an overpaid plug for both seasons and the Oilers will try to deal him twice a day for two years and then go through this again. Wash, rinse, repeat.

Ya because he'll go through arbitration when he's a ufa. Then again you've never really been one of intelligent thought on these boards

Arbitration can't give a deal that runs into UFA years.

One of your sisters was outside the club last night. She was chunky and undesirable and seemed intent on trying to prove that she wasn't.

I think Gagner feels he hasn't been respected, in the last 2 years he's out performed Nugent-Hopkins but has not been given the respect that he probably feels he has earned through 6 hard years with the organization. He has shown he plays better with Hall and Eberle i think, he scored 8 points with them in 1 game and has been durable. All everyone talks about is Nugent-Hopkins being the #1 center likes theres no debate about it. This is my opinion why Gagner is holding fast, he wants the respect he deserves and hasn't gotten from Edmonton management and even fans as a legit scoring 1st line center on this team.. Nugent-Hopkins hasnt earned it yet. No one mentions Gagner as a building block for the Oilers. He has been so disrespected in the market from my observation, theyve been trying to trade him for years. There will be no home town discount, I bet he'll wait to be a UFA if they don't trade him. Maybe he'll land in his Dad's organization.

True but there are still very very attractive pieces not mentioned there. Not that they are going to trade him or anything but I think he is exactly the kind of player you need in the top 6.

Gagner is poopty, I say trade him to the Blues for Berglund if we can. Berglund can easily be the center Gagner is and more

he outscored an injured nuge last year. but not for 2 years ..
nuge outscored gags as an 18 year old rookie in 15 less games played.

some of the things uve said are true, and Sammy brings a sh1tload of character, heart and effort level every night.
but nuge is another class.
if nuge's injury turns out ok and he puts on some meat, I don't think there's much doubt he's in another class from Sammy.

Sammy might very well walk if he ends up with another year contract, but at the end of the day, he aint worth 5+ and management has to do what's best for the franchise. we have 3 maybe 4 guys to resign next year.

Does anyone remember what the issue was when Smyth got traded back to Edmonton? I think I remember that it wasnt suppose to be Fraser and a 7th it was suppose to be someone else but I completely forgot
