so you're saying it's inconceivable that he would have maintained anything close to that pace over the final 34 games of the season?
- DoubleDown

3 points in the last month of the season

so no.. i highly doubt he would of maintained that pace

kadri wont get that much.

half a season of inconsistent production.. i mean he had what.. 3 points in the final month of the season?

i see a subban type deal coming.. play 2 more years for just under 3 and prove you are worth 5+ long term.

- Dozzer

Well that's what I mean, This contract should drive Kadri's price down I would think.

This is what I'm thinking as well.

of course, the danger is that his progression booms over that bridge deal and then he ends up costing you a good 2 million/season more long term. just like Subban.

he's a streaky player. he would have gotten hot again at some point imo. also, didn't everyone in Edmonton fall of a cliff that last month? anyway, i just think that given the salaries we're seeing these days, his contract is not that bad, especially since it's short term. if he's going to top out as a 45-point player, they'll find out over this contract and then be done with him.

Certainly a risk reward factor here. I wouldn't be surprised to see a 4 year deal rather than a 2 year deal.

if it does then he'll be worth it

better than handing out 4-5million and have him be nothing more than a perennial 40 point guy

Great point. I really hope that he blossoms into that first line Center we covet.

Gagner? i think he's right where he signed. he's been around too long to take a bridge deal. (was shocked to read he's almost halfway to 1000 games played.) but at the same time, his numbers have been completely stagnant over his career until this past season so i can see why the Oilers are reluctant to sign him for more than 2-3 years.

absolutely. when was the last time a bonafide #1 centre switched teams in the prime of his career? Thornton?
i mean, we can point to guys like Briere, Gomez, Richards, etc. since they were seen as #1 centres at the time, but given that their teams let them walk without re-upping them way before they hit UFA and the fact that production dropped pretty dramatically for their new teams, wouldn't say that it was a case of #1s switching teams.

NTC/NMC doesn't kick in until after next season so if he poops the bed he'll be dealt at the deadline

2.8 million for a checking line winger who can play on the second line if needed and that kills penalties. Seems alright to me.

yeah, his growth has peetered out some

at the same time.. is it him? or the team? they havent exactly been able to develop a smooth transition game as of yet. maybe eakins can accomplish that?

if the D tightens up its only going to create more offensive oppurtunites

Only Penalty Killers we have right now are McClement/Bolland/Kulemin/Bozak. I'm not sure if Clarkson kills penalties or not.

i dont see the issue of paying a 40 point forward less than 3 million

Me either. Anyone gets injured he can jump into the top 6 without looking out of place.
