He isn't bad!!!! He just isn't a top 5, 7 million dollar player! And if we want a better partner, he cannot make that kind of money, and he's going to want it, so they have to trade him. They are in a crap spot with him, it's no ones fault, it's just the way of the cap. I love Dion at 5 million, all over it, but we all know he's gonna get huge money and they simply cannot give it to him.

Many have said he is a number 1 because he plays so many minutes. He can't get a partner unless he takes a serious pay cut, how is this hard to understand.

and that would only regain half his salary

and you cannot bury money in the minors now... so unless someone still thinks he is worth that money (unlikely) then waiving him would accomplish nothing

I say platoon the minutes. Who says they have to have a 25 plus minute guy? Roll three good units, find out who is capable of a little more and roll on. They have some good young guys, they should all improve. I would hate to lose any of them to keep Dion for one season.

fair enough but i honestly think there isnt anyone remotely close enough skill level wise to skate with the crosbys of the league

Agree to disagree. I like what I see in Gunnerson, and Franson in particular. And I just wanted to say, about that other comment, wasn't trying to cause a stir - I got lambasted for a long time by guys in here for saying I liked the deal for Kessel... Lambasted.
