You guys say you have 8-10 nhl dmen but hard to believe when the sabres were one of the worst defensive teams last year

the Devils haven't had a strong farm since they compete pretty much every year

have fun in hockey heaven maybe one year that title could be earned

- dmarsden2988

Apparently you don't take it easy to constructive criticism... I know it hurts but you guys are on the bottom side of your dynasty right now and that's all I was trying to say. the contracts for Ryan Chloe and rider just don't make sense in the process of trying to move forward and be a better team in the future. they seem like a last ditch effort to try and get back to the team that you were in past years. I'm sorry if that hurt your feelings to be said but the fact that you bring up things against Buffalo just shows that you don't have any actual ammunition or facts to say otherwise abiut the devils

i agree. but don't count out uncle lou. look what he got schneider for.
- AkA

agreed. what he got shot her for was cheap but when you look at it in a different perspective they gave up 90 overall and they don't have a first round pick next year. that kinda hurts when you look at it in that scope.I also think that the contracts to Chloe when they let Clarkson go just did not make sense Clarkson has way more offense of sides and Chloe does but probably similar in defense of abilities. & I think they only sign for about the difference of a half million. Ryder was a very good free agent signing but I just don't understand how those moves fit into their long-term plans

It's Clowe for (frank)'s sake. If you're going to come in here and act like the end all be all of NJ Devils hockey knowledge, it helps to be able to spell the name of one of the players you consider part of your basis for argument.

We have more youth and untapped potential then we know what to do with... we will suck for a year or two... but we are starting our rebuild... devils have one of the 5 worst farm systems in hockey and are holding on to old guys past their primes hoping to squeeze out another playoff appearance or two..

Zubrus, elias, clowe, ryder, jagr....

Stick to your own issues. When Buffalo sniffs the level of success NJ has had then you can come over here and tell us all is doom & gloom and the Devils have fallen, yada yada. We hear this poop every damn thread from (frank)ing Sabres fans, Leafs fans, Rags fans, all clubs who haven't done poop in a lifetime. Get over your insecurities of being a lowly Sabres fan and accept that this is a close as it gets to a Championship in Hockey Heaven:

musta forgot your comment about oldest and slowest team top 5pick oh wait comment right

didnt buffalo give up the 2nd most shots per game last season? pretty hard to make up that stat

if kovy didnt be an ass and "retire" the devils looked like a team that really could compete, now it just means it will be more a team effort which is what the devils pretty much made their success on

lou isnt a fan of tanking and waiting for the future, and why should he when he has shown that he can put a winning team on the ice?

it was game 6 where dallas was outplaying them by a good amount if memory serves me right, the stars most likely would have won the cup anyways so all it does is give sabres fans an excuse as to why they didnt win the cup

Add Jagr to the long list of all-time greats the Devils pick up on their last legs... Andreychuk, Stastny, Gilmour, Nicholls, Housley, Nieuwendyk...

I like jagr, but only for depth... As he can barely skate. Brunner addresses our second line scoring needs. Jagr had enough gas for 3rd line RW and pp. .. Unless we want a gassed jagr by march. I like him and want him. Problem is Lou is going to use him in a more prominent role than he should be given. Brunner has legs, a shot, speed and skill. We have Zubrus, Clowe, and soon Jagr that can't skate well.

Mike Rupp is probably the least talented player to have a Cup clinching goal.

Rules still the rule though, its like when we complain about game 6 vs. LA. If that whole nonsense didn't happen and they just outplayed us, I would have been fine with it because they were the better team. If the goal was waved off, its possible DAL would have scored a legit goal and won that way and we wouldnt be talking about it 15yrs later

Sabres fans still complaining about that would be like a Devils fan saying we would have won in 2012 if not for Bernier's hit or Mark Fayne totally blowing it in game 1.

I don't get why so many Isles and Sabres fans feel the need to come in here and tell us how the Devils are terrible. I could understand NYR and Philly fans. Almost every year everyone says we'll suck. Before 2011-12 most "experts" picked us to miss the playoffs and we went to the Finals. Devils fans don't get defensive because we're in denial, it's because we know this team and how they usually exceed expectations.

And if we do suck for a bit, who cares? Our franchise has been a contender for 20 years. The Sabres are the Canucks of the east, but with less Finals appearances. Keep talking about your deep prospect pool, that's only potential success, come back when you have actual success.

NJD against the world.

I don't know if Mogilny should be in that group, he was awesome in NJ.

Edit, sorry, see they brought him back in 05/06. So yeah, back on the list.

Lou must be the high bidder.
Only thing you have to be concerned about is his durability.
Can he maintain his level of play for 82+ games?

- jmo16

He can't maintain it for 48. This why he won't work with over 15 a night. But we don't have much of another option (Brunner).
