I just took a look at that Wiz. Interesting prospective.

Do you see any way that the Hawks look to move Crawford mid-season even if they are playing well?

Why would they do that? They are in the middle of a championship window that will not last forever and are trying to win the Cup each year. They would need to find a better goalie than him either in the trade or in their system. Any goalie that is better than him would have a much larger cap hit. And the system doesn't have the goalies to replace him in mid-season - unless Raanta really lights it up in the first half-season in the minors.

BTW - nice avatar!!

It's possible. If they feel they can get another goalie who's just as good or better who's signed for a reasonable cap hit for another couple years then it could happen. But you have a cup winning goalie for $2.67 million, why would you want to trade that?

It's possible, but not probable.

Thanks. And yeah, I figured that there's really no chance, but signing Khabby and Raanta seems like a little overkill and when you couple that with the way bowman likes to transform overrated players into draft picks, I thought there was a chance to make a move. But at some point you gotta stand pat with what youve got and bite the bullet come UFA time.

I noticed the cast on his left hand/forearm. Did he have surgery recently? I remember he and other guys had injuries, but I can't remember what Bickell's was.

Crawford has only the one year left so he is eligible to sign an extension now. Maybe he's willing to do a short extension at a reasonable rate that the Hawks can handle cap-wise. I think Raanta is insurance if Crow's price is too high or his replacement if he shows he's the goods.

My hope is that Crawford realizes the reality of the situation and accepts a fair deal to stay in Chicago. That being said I wouldn't be upset if he decided to look for the biggest contract he could get, he's earned that right.

If Stan has to go on the UFA market to replace Crawford and maybe find a goalie to platoon with Raanta as 1A/1B I think Brian Elliott would be near the top of my list of affordable goalies. I bet Stan could sign him to a similar contract to what Crawford makes now (Elliott's cap hit is now $1.8 million).

He had a knee sprain too but i don't think he needed surgery for that, but could be wrong.

He is a gamer - played several games with that jacked up wrist against VAN in 2011. I'm glad he's still a Hawk - the system didn't have a replacement ready for what he does.

Maybe he did the thumb hauling in a big ol' muskie?!?
