Every time Sharp plays center he gets the job done and wins 58% of his draws. I'll never understand why he's not at the dot all the time.

One of the great mysteries... Why is #10 is not manning the #2 C spot?? I stopped asking for none of us understand that.

My guess is his speed is a better asset outside on the wing where he can get more clean shots off

Still no word on the details for the Beach, Stanton, Leblanc, Kostka and Peckham deals? In this day and age it's an accomplishment to keep contract details from the public like this.

"We are thankful that Notre Dame is allowing us to host our camp at their new state-of-the-art, world-class facility," said Vice President/General Manager Stan Bowman. "Opening camp on the road offers our players and coaching staff a unique team bonding atmosphere. We look forward to bringing Blackhawks hockey to our fans in Northwest Indiana."

Saw this as well Rob and thought another PR move by the FO no question and again getting the brand out there for sure. It's another McD masterstroke. 'Bringing the sport to the heartland' I can see it now. I wonder how much Swarbrick shelled out to get them in town? Meantime school will have started by then wouldn't and all those Chicago kids down there will flock to those practices...where all the merch will be available. It's a brilliant move no question.

I don't see the Hawks parting ways with Crawford. He is clearly the goalie going forward. I see us getting rid of Hammer way before getting rid of Crawford. We already lost one goalie to Hammer, I don't think we can stomach two. Hammer is good, don't get me wrong, but he can be replaced. Especially when we have so much depth in defense in Rockford right now.

Exactly. There's a chance we might have one in Rockford ready to go in five years because nothing is imminent now, but by then who knows if the team is still in position to win?

If we can sign him for six mil lets get it done...

Got caught up today and was not able to acknowledge a point you made. That is I agree there is no way you pay CC5 million a year. Frankly, I do not pay any goalie that amount. Elite or not....

Boston paying Rask his deal is akin to the Luongo deal. Not saying that his game is similar physically or mentally. What I think is the risk of something not working out over that period of time is wayyyy tooo great...

(In no particular order):

Anderson
Rask
Henrik
Niemi
Rinne
Quick
Miller

Those are the only "definitely" better than Crawford-goalies. Goalies like Bob, Howard, Halak, Price, Smith, even Lu are goalies you can make an argument for IMHO.

I just don't see anyone else being "better" than Crawford. And in truth, I'd be fine with giving him up $4-$5 million and be happy with what I'm

- TommyHawk[expecting] of getting as opposed to giving someone like Fleury $5 million instead.

Luongo and Howard are pretty much unquestionably better than Crawford

Sending out a feeler. Just looking for reaction.

The Hawks play the Lightening down in Tampa Oct 24 I believe.

The lightening do a Rink of Dreams program. Not sure if you are aware of it. It is a cool deal.

On the day of the game, you can skate in a game, at the arena with announcers, horn etc, for an hour and a half. They do three stars after game. Just a neat time. You skate around 230. Afterward you get early entry to club level seats to eat and then watch game. Great spread of all you can eat food.

I did it last year, was a nice time. I may put a group together from Florida here for it, but may have a few extra spots. Anyone in the area interested? Depending on the amount of guys, it could cost between 150 and 175.

Again, this is very early, but want to just throw it out there and see what you guys think. I will look into it a little further and advise. If you are more comfortable PM me that is fine too.

I was never familiar with this kind of deal when I was up north. Great marketing tool for lightening here.

6M for Crawford?!? NO, NO, and NO....

...unless that's 6M for 2 years.

If you love someone set them free...and then find a less expensive alternative.

Hey guys, bored at work here so I'm looking ahead to NEXT off-season, and this potential roster absolutely leaves me salivating ...

Salary cap space going into next off-season - $14.6 million

Re-Signed: Hammer ($4.2 million); Shaw ($2.3 million)

GONE: Handzus, Brookbank, Khabby, Hayes, CRAW

So we have 7 roster spots to fill with roughly 8 million so here's what I do ...

1. LET CRAWFORD WALK! I think that he can definitely be replaced with the current defensive-core and given the fact that Bowmans don't value goalies as much as defense, it'll be important to improve the positions in front of the goalie first, so I think that the next goalie should be .... Raanta! If he plays well in Rockford give him the opportunity to start next season. Sign him at a very affordable hit ($1.5 million for example).

2. Bring in a cheap, affordable back-up for around $1 million. A goalie with experience (like a Giguere) would be great.

3. Trade Oh-Do-Ya. I think Leddy improves his game enough to warrant top-four minutes. Oduya becomes expendable. Send him and his $3.4 million dollar contract elsewhere! Get draft pick compensation and/or a cheap, young player.

4. Bringing in two goalies for a combined cap hit of around $2.5 million and sending off a $3.4 million dollar contract gives the team roughly $1 million more in cap space. The team now has $9 million in cap space.

5. Bring in the rooks! I think that Danault and McNeill will definitely be ready to go for next season. I think that Danault is the future on the third line (Kruger slides to the fourth line) and McNeill makes a lot of sense starting on that fourth line with his offensive/size combination. I think that him and Kruger could work (or him and Danault given the fact that they will play together in Rockford this year and will hopefully have chemistry.) Those two guys combine for $2 million in salary. The team will have roughly $7 million in cap space left.

6. And now the moment you have all been waiting for ... the splash! Stan Bowman makes his first

- TommyHawk[major] acquisition in signing Joe Pavelski to a $5.8 million dollar contract! Yes! The answer to our second lines woes! Pavelski teams up with American teammate Pat Kane. Pavelski and his 55% career FO-percentage and excellent two-way game is a MAJOR benefit to the Blackhawks.

7. Sign cheap a seventh defense-man and fourth line, gritty winger (for a very cheap contract.)

And your 2014-2015 Chicago Blackhawks!!!

ROSTER AS IS:

Bickell / Toews / Hossa
Sharp / Pavelski / Kane
Saad / Danault / Shaw
McNeill / Kruger / (Jared Boll perhaps)

Keith / Seabrook
Hammer / Leddy
Stanton / Rozsival
(Scott Hannan)

Raanta
Giguere

Who gon' stop us now?!?!?!
