This is what I'm saying. I also have to wonder what the conversation was about how he would be slotted, used etc.
- John Jaeckel

Yes and also how much Waite leaving will affect Crawford or Raanta's developement

One thing we have learned is goalies who could start but don't are atttractive trade chips.

And Dennis Farina died. Like another Chicago guy, and another really good person, Michael Clarke Duncan, earlier this year
- John Jaeckel

That sucks. And Michael Clarke Duncan was also awesome.

I'm glad to see Jagr sign with the Devils. I don't think he would have fit in with the Hawks. And, barring an injury, we didn't have the top 6 role he wanted.

Also, there wasn't any cap room for him here.

I saw that - seemed like a genuinely good guy (Duncan, too). Enjoyed his stuff.

Seems like every one of these goalies has had their struggles at times (or with Holtby is inexperienced). I would bet it comes down to who's playing well in the fall. How many on the roster?

Keith and Toews are locks, and Seabs should make it. Not sure Sharpie makes the team.

My guess is Sharp has as good if not better chance of making the team this time than Seabrook.

Luongo's job to lose.....Then it is a coin toss.

It is very possible every Hawk invited makes the squad.

That's interesting - I was assuming it would be tougher on Sharp because of Canada's incredible depth at forward. That would be great to see them all on there.

Canada's defensive depth may be even better.

I would guess Luongo starts and Price backs him up. The battle will be for the #3 spot.

Sharp is versatile....can play all 3 forward positions.

Fewer spots on defense and Sharp is a complete player...This isn't an All Star team so I think he has a great chance. Sharp is more thought of up North than here.

I would agree unless they play poorly to start the season.

Crawford has a decent shot if he plays well.

True, I don't think any of these guys are a 100% lock to make the team. A poor start to the season could slid them down the depth chart of off the team entirely. Luongo has the best shot given his experience, Price is likely Team Canada's goalie of the future so he'll be given a serious shot. Other than that who knows.

I wonder if Luongo won't be too much of a distraction. He comes with so much baggage. I don't think it's past Canada to want to start Fresh. Carey Price #1 Crawford #2 with Holtby or Smith getting the third. spot.

Seabs was barely playing toward the end of the '10 games. Wouldn't be shocked if he doesn't make it. Not saying he shouldn't, just saying it wouldn't surprise me.

I don't see the Hawks parting ways with Crawford. He is clearly the goalie going forward. I see us getting rid of Hammer way before getting rid of Crawford. We already lost one goalie to Hammer, I don't think we can stomach two. Hammer is good, don't get me wrong, but he can be replaced. Especially when we have so much depth in defense in Rockford right now.

My guess is Crawford gets 4.0 x 3 and Hjalmarsson gets 4.5 x 5. I think that would be good. Maybe Hjalmarsson a little higher and Crawford a little lower but probably something like that and I think I could like that.

Project much? You must be very successful in all your relationships. Even if I am taking personal shots, you aren't?

You aren't going to "win" this, counselor. So keep going. It is becoming more amusing.

I can see that, but I think if Crawford accepts the $4M I bet he'd rather do two years (which is three seasons more because he has one year more on his deal) so he has time for a longer contract after that. $4.5 for Hammer would be a bit of a discount and he went the offer sheet road last time, so he might need a little more to sign.

I don't think so. I imagine all the issue he has with the Canucks will be resolved by the time the season starts and Luongo will once again be a good soldier for team Canada.

I think no matter what Team Canada needs Luongo on the team, even if he's #3.

$2.3 million is a bit much for Shaw, I would think he'd get $1.5 - $2.0 million at most.
- DarthKane

I think that he definitely gets more than Kruger because of the fact that he contributes more offensively. If Shaw can score 15 goals with 30-35 points I'd definitely think that he gets more than $2 million.

I'm just worried about him getting too much and pricing himself off the team. Shaw has a skillset we need and I'd like to see him on the team on a long term basis.

Shaw contributes more offensively than Kruger but that's partially because of the role Q gave Kruger. This season may be different if Kruger gets the 2C role.
