At Overbrook (NJ) we set the state record for bomb scares in a year. 33, I think. - jmatchett383
That would piss me off. Make me get up and go outside every time some dumbass student doesn't want to take a test. |

I've been to the Fountain at the Four Seasons in Philly, once
I've never eaten at such a fancy place before, don't know when I will get to again. I hope soon, the food was unbelievable. The price isn't quite so much. - JAKEw1234
True, it's the finest restaurant in Philly for incredible food and stellar service, but be prepared to take out a 2nd mortgage when you get the check!!

Wasn't bad in the summer/fall, but it was hell during the winter. |

If you worked in Wilmington where would you live in a 20 minute commute radius? I'm being offered a job there, was in the "city" overnight for the Interview and was very unimpressed with the downtown area. - pinto
With I-95 running right into Wilmington, you can go to a lot of palces in the Suburbs in DE and still only be 20 minutes away. If its a good paying job, and you want to be near good schools and classy people... Hockessin is the place. Hopkins lives in Hockessin.
If its a medium paying job, look in the Pike Creek area. Not too expensive, but still a nice safe place to live.
If your running on the lower end of the pay scale, but dont want to live in crime infested Wilmington, then check out Bear. That is where I live. There are some shady areas, but do your homework and you can find a nice area for cheap. |

I never stayed there, just had dinner. Wore a fancy suit, had 7-8 people eat for 80-120 bucks a piece. It was an awesome, wallet decimating meal - JAKEw1234
If you are looking for a 5 star hotel in Philly that isn't priced too ridiculously, try the Rittenhouse hotel. Great location on Rittenhouse square and the amenities are excellent. If you have a platinum Amex, use their concierge service to book it, you will get an upgrade, a spa credit and food/beverage credits too. The missus and I spent an anniversary weekend there and had an awesome time! |

It depends.
If you have kids, you have to be aware that the public schools aren't great in Delaware, so brace yourself for possibly paying for Catholic or private schools.
I mean, there's a reason that a state that small has so many catholic and private high schools with tuition that approaches what a college tuition did 15 years ago.
I have relatives in what I guess could be North Wilmington, and the area is nice enough. The good part about that is you are close enough to PA and Philly, but you don't pay PA property taxes and such. - johndewar
North Wilmington has always been a nice area - lots of DuPonters and AZ families have been there a long time and no Im not one of them. Close enough to alot of things and far enough away.
As far as the schools go everyone is entitled to their opinion but I dont think all the public schools in that area are all bad. Like anything else if I were paying a tuition to a private school I would expect to get my moneys worth.
Have seen a lot of success from those who have gone to public school - you get out of it what you put into it. |

Sure sounds like it. Just not sure what kind of education... - PhillySportsGuy
Well, I got a good education. A friend of mine went to UofD and double majored in enginering and rocket science, and works at NASA. So couldnt be that bad. |

UD is a good school. Do you ever tell your friend that you don't need to be a rocket scientist to figure something out? |

You're probably right..RE: The schools.
I've just heard too many stories about people who move to DE and rave about it until their kid hits high school age and they don't want to send little Johnny to the public high school and they get sticker shock from the private/Catholic schools down there. |

THat happens in a lot of places. I live down the shore and none of the high schools are very good except Linwood. The parents all flock there once their kids reach that age or pay the price of private school. |

I always liked Temples mascot. Many don't realize but Temple used to be a night school. It was a school made for working class people who worked during the day and took classes at night. Hence the nocturnal Owl is the mascot. - PhillySportsGuy

I actaully graduated from Wilm U with my education degree. There are school districts that are good, and ones that are bad. Appiquinimik (sp) is really good. Colonial Suck. Red Clay has a mix.... it just depends. I've done time in each school district, and went to Private my entire life. As someone that almost became a teacher, and going by how the governement gets involved in education, I would never send my kid to public school. |

I went to public school. I've been in and out of jail for 7 years and I have a nasty addiction to meth, but overall I turned out fine. |

ive done private my entire life, and if i had the choice, i wouldnt either (as far as grade school and high school are concerned) the problem is just with their costs continually skyrocketing, not many families realistically have that choice anymore |

You know... Your right. There are some good-decent grade school options for public schools, but pretty much all the Highschools suck... Newark, Christiana, Richardenson, McKean, I really can't think of a good Public highschool in de. |

haha yeah. ive been down to check it out twice now, and to say it is different from my undergrad is an understatement. i still have to get the whole septa rail line figured out, but as far as the school goes it seems okay. the main strip is only like a block away from the train station, and the three law buildings are pretty much right on broad street. |

That's good info, thanks. Its a decent Job at DuPont, certainly not gona make me rich but should allow me to find a nice small place with some room for my wife, kid, and dog. I'm in EHT in south jersey now, its about a 65 mile each way drive from there. I plan on doing the drive for the time being and take some time to learn the area before I transplant. I have a 7 year old boy so the school situation is definitely important. Thanks guys. |

Yeah. People always get all worked up but the area on campus is very safe. They have a very large campus security staff. |
