St Louis doesnt make the team?? Iiiiiii dont know about that one slick.
- Colin Dambrauskas

I think unless he kills it first half next year, he's on the outside looking in with his age.
they'll want a few vets sprinkled through, but I don't see them bringing back anybody from the "old guard" if you will.
2010 was the last of em with iggy, niedermayer, prnger etc.

Few things wrong here, firstly, Marc Staal over PK Subban? Comon.

Secondly, Voracek on the 3rd line for the Czech team? He's arguably the best Czech player currently playing. He's undoubtedly better than Havlat and Hemsky. Thirdly, Stamkos will be on a line with Giroux. They have the proven chemistry and have played on a line together a few times before. Fourthly, there are more likely options than Seguin on the Olympic team (See: Hall, Taylor).

I thought about ebs as the 13th forward. but getzlaf is just soo good.
and kinda think it's gonna be one of benn or ebere.
I think they'll take benn

- hugefemale dog77

Getzlaf is very good...but Im not sure he will be utilized as much as he should be in this type of tournament. I think he'll have a hard time catching players out there who will have a lot of footspeed.

Actually is a good lineup. As long as we dress guys who can skate we will be fine. No lucic or players of that ilk. Not needed.

As a Sharks fan, I really think Logan Couture should be considered. Not saying he should for sure be on the team but just be considered. Great 2-way guy that will win faceoffs and kill penalties. Offensive skills are just the tip of the iceberg with this guy. Could serve a similar role as Bergeron did 4 years ago.

Again, dont bite my head off here or call me a homer. Not sayin hes a lock. Should be considered. Esspecially with some of te other riiculos names being thown around here.

- SJFreez19

couture is absolutely in strong consideration.
he'll make the team.
guy dominated the canucks in the playoffs almost singllehandedly

this.
the big ice is the only reason he's my 13th forward instead of in the top 12.
and I think a lot of people might be thinking like you, especially after the debacle in 06.
I still think he gets called though. he had over a ppg last season, elite hands, won the gold in Vancouver and is a the perfect age 28 to be a vet presence.

and lets not forget that at the end of the day, regardless of ice surface, this is still Canadian hockey.
guys like getzlaf and benn are our bread and butter as a nation. giants with a mean streak that can score

ive done this twice now. so many guys to choose from.
last time I left Tavares off.

I meant to put logan couture on the 4th.

fixed.

- hugefemale dog77

That looks good. I mean really, talk about an abundance of talent to choose from. It would be epic to be able to field two rosters.

Eberle-Tavares-Hall

Weber-Letang
Dougthy-Keith
Pietrangelo-Subban

Only if Tippet or Hitchcock are coaching. Hell, you could even add Elliot to the list then...

Lou makes it over both Ward and Smith...

My guess as well at this point.

Definitely a chance another could play his way onto the team with a good first half of the season, but my money wouldn't be on Smith.

Why would they use up a spot on the roster just to get a guy another Gold medal?

Cause its Martin, freakn, Brodeur?...and besides, if by chance Price and Lu went down he could still hold the fort if needed.

Matt Moulson of the NY Islanders has scored 112 goals in the past four seasons. Steven Stamkos 185
Corey Perry 129
Rick Nash 116
John Tavares 112
Nobody else on the so-called team Canada roster has scored near that many. I think its safe to say he should be in consideration way before Tyler Seguin, Taylor Hall or Jamie Benn as there are more play makers than goal scorers on that team.

yeah no.

moulson's a good and underrated player, but those 3 kids are elite and budding superstars.

seguin and hall haven't even played 4 seasons yet..

For a complete alternate Canadian team is:
Matt Moulson - Ryan Getzlaf - Milan Lucic
Kris Kunitz - Logan Couture - Jordan Eberle
Brad Marchand - Joe Thorton - Chris Stewart
Andrew Ladd - Mike Richards - Jeff Carter
13th Forward - Taylor Hall

PK Subban - Chris Letang
Kevin Bieksa - Jay Beaumeaster
Dan Boyle - Justin Schultz
7th Defenceman - Ryan Murray

Cory Crawford
Mike Smith
James Reimer

I think this team would likely lose to the first team because of a lack of depth on defence, but the games would be competitive.

- Woowy

Taylor Hall's on the 1st team not 13th on the 2nd

So you must have seen Hall light up your team like a Christmas tree this year... Clearly a lock for the Olympic team.

Maybe team Canada #5 but not the one going to Sochi.

FYI. Hall and Sequin has only played 3 years in the NHL.

How is getzlaf not in this lineup? Getzlaf is a shoe in. Definitely over seguin, St. Louis, perry. Big body, plays well in all 3 zones and is a great disher. No doubt he should be on this list

Martin St. Louis led the league in scoring last season. Not only do I think he's a shoo in for Canada, I think he can play a big role on that team; especially if he plays with Stamkos, (which he should IMO). Team Canada's management spoke about how they snubbed him last Olympics and admitted it was a mistake. I don't see that happening again the season after he led the NHL in scoring. And this might be my personal opinion, but I like Chris Kunitz to make that team as well. He's a heart and soul guy, that's developed into a big time scoring, power forward. His recent numbers are better than most of the potential players for Team Canada. People will say its because he plays with Crosby (which is understandable), and his skill level isn't as high as some of the other potential players for Canada, but I disagree and think he's a heck of a player and would be an impact player for that team.

Big ice. Canada needs mobility over size. I doubt Getz makes it. And there are already a ton of centers.
