I know this is a Canadian team blog, but no mention of the US team?? They will be stacked defensively and have the best goalie squad in the Olympics. Should be interesting:
Parise-Pavelski-Kane
van Riemsdyk-Stepan-Kessel
Pacioretty-Backes-Ryan
Brown-Callahan-Wheeler
Pominville
Stempniak
Suter-McDonagh
Yandle-Shattenkrik
Byfuglien-Martin
J. Johnson
Greene
T. Myers
Quick
Howard
Schneider
Miller
Anderson - cap1681
Kesler should make the cut if he's healthy. |

Americans are a huge threat with their goaltending and that D is impressive. but i think goals will be hard for them to come by against the top teams. they're too thin down the middle. |

Agreed, Kesler should be the 2nd line center and bump Stepan to 3rd C |

It is possible, but I think he would have to really dominate the 1st half of the season. He will definitely be representing the US in many Olympic games, but it will be tough to crack the lineup come Feb. |

yeah agree there. he would need to be at a point-per-game pace or better and that's probably expecting too much for a guy who will still be 19 when the rosters are announced. |

was thinking the same thing, he's gotta be on the roster, we need more dynamic players to balance out the grinders. |

For a complete alternate Canadian team is:
Matt Moulson - Ryan Getzlaf - Milan Lucic
Kris Kunitz - Logan Couture - Jordan Eberle
Brad Marchand - Joe Thorton - Chris Stewart
Andrew Ladd - Mike Richards - Jeff Carter
13th Forward - Taylor Hall
PK Subban - Chris Letang
Kevin Bieksa - Jay Beaumeaster
Dan Boyle - Justin Schultz
7th Defenceman - Ryan Murray
Cory Crawford
Mike Smith
James Reimer
I think this team would likely lose to the first team because of a lack of depth on defence, but the games would be competitive. |

Nice write up colin! I'm with some of the other posters, saying subban will be on the team. That said I also like the idea of havin lucic on a 3rd or 4 th line. One thing this team needs to balance is scoring and solid forchecking, defensive play. I like the look from the back end. A good blemd of players that could carry the puck and also if need b get a good first pass off. When looking at the fwds, this team doesn't need to have the d drive the rush but I think it would be prudent to have the back end carry the rush. Will give our team better chance to get the fwds in open spots. I'd also like to see crosby center stamkos and giroux if that were possible. Ua a line of cs but hey canada has soo many to chose from. I think one thing that needs to be taken into account is hockey iq and vision. Stamkos having a passer like crosby could be absolutely crushing!!! |

I'd take hall for sure. The real battles imo will be the 3rd and 4th lines. We want players that don't give up and can score. Not many teams will boast a 3/4 th lines like canada will ice. Could be nice to see iggy on the 3rd with bergy or tavares |
