Big ice. Canada needs mobility over size. I doubt Getz makes it. And there are already a ton of centers. - Iggysbff
I agree with the mobility and getzlaf not being as fast of a skater as some of the others. Getzlaf is an elite playmaker and a great player along the boards. He uses his size much better than a lot of the other players on this line up. Getzlaf was there when they won the gold in Vancouver and was one of the highest producers alongside perry. I think it's ideal that they bring him back. |

Mobility over size? who are usually the best teams? Canada, Russia and the US, throw Sweden in there as the most mobile but other than that everybody has a good mix. Russians hit hard and play a fast aggressive game, the US have everybody from big hitters like Brown to Flashy forwards like Kane. You need a mix of size and mobility. Getzlaff isn't going to be pushed around in front of the net, esepcially not by the little euros. Put him on a line with Duchene or Tavares or Stammer and you have a sick line.
I'd put Getzlaf in the lineup over Hall or Seguin or any of them any day. |

No Rick Nash please; he has to earn his way back on to the team.
Other than that, I like your picks. Our D and Goalies are the same.
We need at least one line that drives other teams crazy.

You need some grit in the Olympics too man Lucic and Marchand can do that and score goals to boot. I definitely think that Benn will make it tough on the management to make a decision. Giroux is sick don't get me wrong but I would rather have Getzlaf as second line because of that chemistry with Perry and his size and Giroux isnt a bottom six centre to me so maybe he will the 13th forward or maybe replace Nash on the second line LW

no bergeron??!!! dude's a lock.
kunitz has virtually no chance.
he will not make the team. you need to let this idea go.
there's probably at least 5-7 guys who aren't on this list that will be considered before him. Bergeron, couture, benn, neal, Duchene and st.louis just off the top of my head are all ahead of him without a doubt.
maybe even more than 7 guys ahead actually...
eberle, seguin, thornton, marleau, sharp, Richards, carter, etc etc |

Agreed...depends how he bounces back from injury but he just keeps getting better and better it seems
I'm probably gonna get roasted for this, but absolute no consideration for Iginla even as veteran leadership? Neidermeyer captained last time around and I thought he'd be too old and slow, but that leadership is invaluable.
Does Iggy not even get a consideration?
maybe it's just my sentimental heart...after Vancouver, always thought I'd see Iggy with the C next time around |

im sure he gets some consideration, but just seems like there's gonna quite abit of leadership and experienced players from the 2010 gold medal team. that also happen to be playing much better.
Crosby or toews are prob the obvious choices.
but even Bergeron, keith, weber, perry, e staal, doughty etc were all there before and can be considered for a letter. and those are just the locks for the team.
nash, getzlaf..
the old guard is done save for st. louis who'll be considered depending on how he plays next season.
lots of leadership |

I'd make space for him on the 3rd line...If Spezza was passed over back in the day with his type of numbers, I can foresee them overlooking someone like Benn
They have that type of player in abundance in the top 6... gotta consider guys like Iggy and Lucic for big body 3rd line duties |

but why?
they have leadership in abundance. and a ton of guys who are playing way better too.
all of the possibles are quite aways ahead of him at present.
and why do we need MORE big bodies?
nash, getzlaf, e staal, benn, perry etc
these guys can all play bottom 6 on a team as stacked as canada's gonna be.
skating is gonna be paramount anyway and size is never really an issue for Canada.
every Canadian hockey fan should love iginla.
but I think you're letting your bias get in the way.
he wont make it. nor should he |
