Nill and MacT didn't just move picks and prospects. They moved parts of their core. Eriksson in DAL and Horcoff in EDM. That's my issue. We had value at the NHL level in this core that could have been parlayed into more assets. Spread the wealth around the lineup.

Instead, we locked up Enstrom and Pavelec long-term to bad contracts, are allowing our best players to (maybe) get to arbitration, and are watching the value of Buff depreciate every day.

Buff could have brought back a boatload of talent at any point of the last few seasons. Now? I'm not so sure.

Oh ya....Horcoff was so far from the core of the Oilers. They have wanted to dump him for a couple years along with Hemsky. That is like what we are doing by letting Hainsey, Antropov and Wellwood walk. No chance EDM is going to move any of their core players.

Enstrom's deal is a little high, but he is a good puck mover and Pavelec at 3.9 is fine. Arbitration is part of the process, doubt it gets to that point though. Buff is still capable of doing things no other player in the league can do...remember the FLO OT goal...but I know he was disappointing at times too.

The Flyers wanted Kane + for Richards....how would making a deal like that improve our team? It is not like Playstation where you can just add anyone you want. If we move 2 for 1, then who is going to fill in the 3rd and 4th lines? Enough complaints about waiver pickups already, that is the only way to get some depth without giving anything up. Sure it would be great if we won the Cup in year one, but we are getting better and have a nice core of players. Have patience and if you decide to give up your tickets, I am sure you will be making someone's day!! GO JETS!!

You missed the entire point of my post.

Why would we move 2-for-1? The entire point of my post was to move a one of our "luxury items" to add to our woeful depth by adding multiple pieces. And who suggested moving Kane?

Buff, Enstrom, Ladd, Wheeler and Little all likely have value across the league. Pavelec might have if it weren't for that AWFUL contract. I'm suggesting that we moved one of them for multiple pieces in return that would obviously be better than the waiver-wire acquisitions. Sadly, Enstrom now has a NMC and Pavelec is unmovable because he's hilariously bad.

I'm not impatient because we're not winning cups. I'm impatient because we're doing nothing to improve the club at the NHL level. I'm pleased with the Frolik acquisition and I'm on the fence with Setoguchi, but losing Burmistrov kills our depth down the middle. Unless Scheifele can step in and star this season, it's another year of missed playoffs.

Arby, you make building a good team sound easy. We have yet to see if the Dallas, Edmonton changes will result for the better. I'm fine with people not being happy with the way Chevy builds the team, but when you start whining because it's not being done the way you think it should be done and threatening to give up season tickets, it is childish. Edmonton tried a strategy for the last eight years, before they started making changes. Chevy's been at it two years. Give it two or three more years before we decide it's a failure. I also know you blog on another Jets site and I just find you are too impatient. They said it was going to take time. give em time.

LOL. Okay then.

I'm "whining" because nothing is being done, at all, to improve this club at the NHL level. I don't care if it's not being done my way. I just wish something would be done, period. Waiting for the kids to emerge will take another 3-5 years. Yippee. I can hardly contain my excitement.

A little high? That contract is absurd, good luck trying to move him with that price tag. Wheeler and Bogosian have Enstrom's contract on the brain.

In response to Arby and Radagast,

I'm all fine for criticisms towards the Jets management. Did I think Noel should have been extended? Probably not. Am I excited over the pickups or lack thereof from the Jets. No. But at the same time, have they improved the franchise? Yes, they've restocked our system and were almost a playoff team last year. All I'm saying is that we are in year three of getting the Jets from Atlanta. It's one thing to be critical of the decisions being made (which is honestly fine by me), but when we're threatening to give up our season tickets? It's year 3 buddy!! Let's see how this season goes.

What in god's name are you on about? You think any of the guys you listed hold anywhere near the value to other GMs as guys like Richards (olympian, cup finalist, all terrain centre) and Carter (elite sniper, cup finalist, also a good centre)?
Buff might, might, be/have been worth something similar in terms of asset return but how bad would management look if he were to get his act together and play to his potential after being traded for a couple top 9 wingers and a late first rounder? The only way they could even consider this is if Bogo signs long term AND continues to improve. Despite what people seem to think, he's not Drew Doughty. All the other guys you named are worth more playing here than the pieces that would be replacing them.

Realize that a 2-1 deal in which we move a top 6 forward means we have to REPLACE that forward. We don't have the depth, you can't throw guys like Wright or Santorelli onto the first or second line and expect the team to compete. That's especially worth noting when you're talking about flipping Enstrom (bad contract, won't disagree there) because we do not have another top pairing guy ready to play. You wanna watch Clitsome with Buff all year?

Also, I absolutely agree that Pavelec is not a great goalie, but he is serviceable and he's all we have. Hence the poopty contract.

Until just recently, because of a seemingly strong draft, WE HAVE NOT HAD THE DEPTH TO MAKE TRADES

In my opinion, Chevy wiffed on the Enstrom contract (if he keeps getting injured), the Jokenin contract (possibly the worst of the bunch) and the Burmistrov situation. Other than that, he's done reasonably well given the circumstance. The guy is trying to make chicken salad out of chicken poop.
