Come to think of it I'd rather go Brunner+Raymond than Brunner+Grabo, from a cost, age, and positioning standpoint.

Elias-Zajac-Ryder
Raymond-Henrique-Brunner
Zubrus-Loktionov-Clowe
Carter-Gionta-Bernier

Legitimately not a terrible line-up. No star power, but 4 lines deep. Make it happen Lou.

I like it. But I like this configuration better

Elias-Zajac-Ryder
Clowe-Henrique-Brunner
Raymond-Loktionov-Zubrus
Carter-Gionta-Bernier

It puts Clowe and Zubrus on their more regular wings, and I like giving both lines the size of Clowe and Zubrus. Raymond and Brunner are both small speedy wingers, and we like to play along the boards half the time. Having Clowe or Zubrus on each line will benefit them.

From what I've read, Raymond may not be that much better than Olesz or Tedenby. The guy couldn't crack the top 6 in Vancouver, even with their injuries.. and doesn't have many points. May be a fast skater that doesn't quite have as much hockey sense, or the shot.

Todd: maybe this could be a topic for tomorrow's post? Raymond?

Just work are battle hard muck it up in the corners and get ready for a gritty in your face game when you play the Devils. We wont be blowing anyone out but we should be working on making every minute of every game hell to play against us and make teams work their *sses off for every play they make.

I am not a big fan of Raymond firmly believe that Grabo is the more talented player and has the ability to carry the puck and finish plus he has at lot of heart but at this point I don't really care what happens. Just come to work with your work helmets and lunch pails and we will be just fine with any roster.

I like Grabo's talent too, but A) Really don't want to cough up close to $5mil/year on a multi-year deal, B) he's a center when we really need wingers, and C) something about his personality especially with all of the Leafs fallout makes me worry he wouldn't fit as well in a real "team first" concept that will have to be developed in NJ now. Could be wrong though.

Nothing would make me happier than seeing Tedenby regain his rookie season form. The real ideal scenario for me would be for us to just sign Brunner and for Teds to become a legitimate full time player next year.

I think he just ended up being the odd man out he was a talented player being used in a third line checking role and getting crapped on about his production playing with Orr and McLaren. I also don't think he is a good fit positionally but If we are trying to sign the best players he is better then Raymond and can take a hit. I think if we could play him on the top line center and have Henrique play second line center with either Grabo and Zajac sharing first and third line duties or Grabo first line center and Zajac and Henrique fight it out 2/3rd line. To me we know exactly what we have in Zajac. He isn't going to get any better and likely wont get any worse for a while he is our best defensive forward and he cans split duties anywhere from lines 1-3. Grabo is a better first line center offensively then Zajac and Henrique still has the most room to grow so I give him the second line center job and its his job to lose. All 3 likely get around the same ice time they just are on different lines. Grabo getting lots of offensive end starts, Henrique getting a mix of offensive and defensive starts and Zajac taking the majority of the defensive with some offensive zone starts . Lokti can play wing or leave lol

I wish Eks rumour was L.A talking Toffoli with Devils instead of wit MTL. That is the type of trade we should be looking at. We need to get younger and some Prospects on the cusp of making it or just waiting to have a big year. Dare I say with our extra cash we throw an offer sheet at Kadri I know we don't have a first but if we make it high enough that we only have to give a second up maybe that at least puts the leafs in a bind and forces them to cough someone up

The most we could offer sheet anyone for is 3.3m, and thats not going to pry any RFA of worth away from any team

Im really pulling for Myles Bell. Had an awesome season in the WHL, hope he does well in Albany this season and makes the jump next season with Boucher and Merrill. Had a rough past but Im glad the devils gave him a chance. What Im concerned about is lowlife flyer and ranger fans chanting crap at him to remind him of the past.

Probably stubbed his toe or something. They are more than careful at the prospects camp

I guess no one has really blown anyone away with their progress as I can only find a little storey on this tiny little injury and nothing on how any of the kids looked?

I've pretty much heard what everyone has expected. D looks really good. Reid Boucher seems to have good potential. Nothing else has really stuck out I guess.

I wish one of those Delbarton kids had NHL potential. I kinda just want a native NJ'er in the lineup after being given the finger by Parise and Kovy for their hometowns. Maybe we can kidnap Kyle Palmieri

He's just not that much better(if better at all) than what we already have down the middle, so why spend the money to take a step sideways?

Saw an ECF game at St. Pete's when the Bruins and Bolts played a few years back. The place was deafening... Real nice people though, liked it a lot.

Yeah the Forum is extremely loud. Haven't missed a Devils game here in 14 years including playoffs. They really know myself and my buddy, boo'ed the whole time we walk the concourse. Love it! Even better are the seat prices.

I went to a Devils game there two years ago, I thought it was a very fun place to see a game!

On the flip side, I've gone to lots of Panthers games, and, well, aside from the playoffs it's sort of...eh...

TG: "I'm hearing a certain former Devil and his team from the Western Conference will be at Pru Center for the Devils' 2013-14 opener."

I honestly hope not. With our crazy new roster I think it'd be sort of a shame for opening night to be totally focused on said ex-Devil who I think we're all assuming is Parise.

Maybe it'll be Oduya and the Blackhawks.
