Probably. Hasek = Hall of Fame. Miller = Hall of Very Good. |

Lafontaine gave an amazing effort and when he played you never walked away thinking he was going half speed like current sabres. Pierre Turgeon was a purse holding bum like Myers, soft and lacking in heart. - MrSquirrel
This is what I mean about lowering the standard. The standard is based on effort instead of actual results, like teams with a championship mentality. |

I can't believe the hate for Miller.
He is a great goalie... always standing on his head.
He just got a little too vocal the last couple years. |

Agreed...Ottawa playoff series when Pominville scored in OT, I believe it may have been game 2 that he stole in Ottawa. |

Looks like the guys over at The Hockey Writers are staying eternally optimistic (seems to be a common attitude among Buffalo fans year after year hmmm?)
http://thehockeywriters.c...alo-sabres-little-secret/
And then you look at Sports Media 101 who are basically saying we're boned.

The hockey writers are correct. The key to this whole thing is Myers. If he takes his game seriously (i.e. he essentially becomes and earns the team's Masterton nominee), the defense corps will be very, very good. If Ristolainen is as NHL ready as people think he is, it becomes an even bigger bonus. Those are two big "if's" however. |

His longevity and local presence will get him over the top as far as his place in Sabres history moreso than his actual accomplishments. |

I'm not saying it's right, but it's "good enough" in this town, and always has been. |

But I think that the question really is can this team make the playoffs. I say it entirely depends on what happenes to Vanek and Miller. |

The question is do we want to make the playoffs at 7/8 or just bomb out for a high pick..... I vote door #2. |

Not really - it depends on whether or not they end up in 8th place or higher |

if vanek and miller play well we can make the playoffs in a 7/8 spot.. if they are not on the team we are shooting for that top 3 pick |

Vanek goes....
Miller stays...
A ufa would see this team as a better destination with a top goalie than a wanna be elite scorer.. |
