I like the Oiler team and the way it has been put together. I think it was wise for them to play the hand the way it was dealt. At some point the Oilers will do a big deal. Bit it needs to be for something that is an essential ingredient to their becoming an elite team (eg. Pietrangelo).

I really don't think Edmonton actually has the resources to do deals for third line players. Because they have so many high end picks playing in their system they do not have the opportunity to easily move resources.

For example, Ottawa did a deal for Ryan giving up Silfverberg (2nd round), Noesen (mid first round) and a 1st round (2014). Hard for the Oilers to do this kind of deal because their assets from the same time period are elite high end. So, they have no choice but to stick with the game plan.

Silferberg was defitnely worth a first rounder though. He was a top rated prospect.
