“I don’t want the players walking in the hallways of the Air Canada Centre and seeing pictures from 1962,” Leiweke said. “Get rid of those pictures and tell them, this is your legacy.”
I'm wondering if he means the hallways in the bowels of the building where the players walk around, as opposed to the public areas.
Either way, I'm not a big fan. - Atomic Wedgie
So what pictures do they hang instead? Pictures of current players not accomplishing anything...what a great motivational tool that would be.
EDIT: I guess they could hang a picture of Bergeron celebrating while Reimer cries on the ice... |

His statement makes no sense - "This is your legacy."
Huh?
How can you have a legacy (of greatness) until you achieve something great?
Unless he wants to post pictures of the last 4 minutes and OT of game seven vs. Boston - which I suppose could be their legacy.
But I'm betting a sports psychologist or two would discourage that. |

I think what he's getting at is instead of our players now looking at the wall and saying "(frank) me, that was a great team" he's trying to get him to focus on the blank wall and say " (frank) me, I want to be on a great team. I want my picture here."
Don't reminisce the past legacies and start your own.
That being said, I still disagree with it |

If something is really important to you, buy a t-shirt.
That way, when it becomes faded and stretched, and you become embarrassed to be seen in it, you can easily throw out the t-shirt. |

The Leafs franchise should never forget their once proud history, no one should, bad decision on his part IMHO! Leafs will be in tough to make the playoffs this year, if they do it'll be as a Wild Card team. - LeftCoaster
Hmm... Makes sense. Leafs only finished 5th last year so that merits a wild card this season and who cares that NJ just got weaker. |

who are the 3 teams that will definitely going to finish ahead of the Leafs?
Pittsburgh, Boston... ?
Detroit's not what it used to be, Montreal sucks, Ottawa... they're probably the strongest possibility to finish ahead of the Leafs, they didn't last year because of injuries... who else?

Leiweke will soon be eating his words when he looks up and finds himself smack-dab in the middle of planning the nostalgia fest for the 100 year anniverary without a new Cup to parade.

ya i think the idea here is a good one. being that he's saying to have that goal in mind or you will never get there saying "we wnat to compete". no you want to win
that i get
but i don't know if he considered how ridiculous things are here and what headlines it would make
case in point... its on the cover of the sun already |

so the team that finished second in the conference and lost in the first round sucks and the team that finished fifth in the conference and lost in the first round is good, despite neither team making any frontline additions/subtractions over the summer.
got it. |
