Do NOTHING but try and sign Brunner. There's no shame in allowing our prospects (best we've had in years) develop more and possibly crack the lineup full-time. We have talent on both ends of the ice.

Look, it sucks we lost Kovy, poop happens, i'm over it. And we all knew Clarkson was gone, and "replacing" him won't be too difficult, if Clowe hasn't already done so (and for less money).

Lets just let the next year or two play out, the team is in a transition phase with Marty on his way out and Schneider on his way in. It sucks only cuz we're not used to it, we've been spoiled for 20 years.

Honestly, Raymond wouldn't be a horrible signing, depending on amount and term obviously. It helps to have speed now, and lets be honest, both Brunner & Raymond are faster than anything on NJ's current roster with the possible exception of Tedenby. And, well...he sucks (for now).

Raymond & Brunner on 3 yr deals. You could do a lot worse.

Both are 27 FYI. Grabovski, who others want, for comparison is 29.

Take it for what it's worth. If given the option to sign 2 of the 3, I'd do those two. Although I am on record as saying I wouldn't be opposed to Grabo, he will have a chip on his shoulder after Toronto.

Or he'll join Kovy on SKA.

and, if things go south he could be dealt at the deadline for something decent

Exactly. I don't even love Jagr but it's the most sensible move for exactly these two reasons. Brunner wouldn't be the worst but I don't love him either so I can't see committing any cash on uncertainties. Particularly when we have a chance at more sure things next year.

You've become pretty mouthy as of late. I'm starting to remember why i hate Islander fans.

Hope you guys make it again this year. I would hate to see all this fire go away, after a failed follow up to a potential flash in the pan playoff appearance.

Hey Wayne!!!

It's the heat getting to me... plus I think it must be time to get the kids back to school!!!

Stay Cool Wayner!!!!

I'm betting Lou is working his magic, as we continue to wait for a "Kovalchuk replacement".. or a "move forward". Curious why Brunner is taking so long, but maybe contracts just take a while. Or, Lou is exploring options, both UFA and trade options. He's not one to make knee-jerk moves without knowing every card in his deck.

Normally I'd agree with you, except that I feel our centers are overvalued amongst fans & aren't really that exceptional, and none are really solid on FOs so I'd be down for Grabo if he could at least improve NJ's FO %. Especially since this will most likely be a team that heavily aims for a possession game. Seeing as how they're so bad and all.

Grabo>Zajac>Henrique>Loktionov>Carter>Josefson.

Grabo & Zajac could be a wash, but IMO Henrique hasn't produced enough to say he's better, same with the rest.

eh, remember Carter plays LW on that 4th line, with Gionta centering.

Low number. Lou must think highly of Tedenby for this year.

Our centers are all solid and play great two way games. Grabo really isn't an upgrade over Zajac or Henrique if at all, and he made his thoughts on being the third line center very clear. He also had a 50.6 FO%. Not gonna help too much.

If the reports of Brunner wanting 4 per are true, please no. Granted I'm sure Grabo and Jagr would want around the same, and they're the best suitors for at least this season. Just lock up Henrique already!

Last 3 seasons on FOs:

Zajac 12-13: 57.4% (881 FO)/11-12: 57.8% (204 FO)/ 10-11: 55.3% (1278 FO)
Grabovski 12-13: 50.6% (638 FO)/11-12: 51.5% (905 FO)/10-11: 48.4% (1326 FO)
Henrique 12-13: 49.0% (680 FO)/11-12: 48.8% (1026 FO)/ 10-11: NA

Playoffs:
Zajac 2011-12: 54.2% (448 FO)
Henrique 2011-12: 43.7% (339 FO)
Grabovski 2012-13: 44.9% (98 FO)

I wouldn't say it's a tremendous falloff.
Point totals last 3 seasons:

Zajac: 44, 6, 20
Henrique: NA, 51, 16
Grabovski: 58, 51, 16

Who knows. He's hardly a massive downgrade though.

Whatever happened to Steckel?

We have no need for Grabo. Zajac and Henrique are at least better than him. Loktionov maybe, he is young so we need to give him a chance, same with Josefson. We have no need for Grabo, makes no sense to sign him.

At least better than him? Stats say otherwise, don't write him off so quick.

Or are you mad because he's...

Stats aren't everything. He had a terrible lockout shortened season. I don't care where he is from, what the hell does that have to do with anything.

Really? Because Zajac had 4 more points and Henrique had the same. A lot of people had terrible shortened seasons. Including a lot of Devils.

Tell me again how Zajac & Henrique are at least better.

Josefson shouldn't even enter the conversation until he can play a full season and produce at least a respectable amount. Josefson is a non-factor at this point, as is Tedenby. Why should they be gift-wrapped a spot over someone who actually has produced at the NHL level?

There's room for Grabovski in this lineup. Perhaps a bit forcibly, but you should always want to upgrade the roster. I wouldn't be disappointed if he signed in NJ. As long he isn't blatantly overpaid.

Gawd. The Devils have a lot of terribly overpaid players.

Zajac @ $5.7
Clowe @ $4.8
Zubrus @ $3.1
Zidlicky @ $4.0

It hurts... why?

I'd love to gripe about Elias too, but I guess its his reward for sticking with the team. Another jersey in the rafters and the all time best forward for the franchise.

But not many players are worth $5.5 at age 40. He's one of those guys who's underrated just because of how complete his game is, so even when he has a down year he's still pretty amazing to have, but the wheels have to fall off eventually, no?

Zajac and Henrique are also staples on the PK where Grabovski got exactly 0:01 per game on
