suggestion for NJ. Target 2-3 of the remaining decent free agenst, but see if you can get them for 1-2 year deals. If the help you win now great, if not, maybe move them at the deadline for picks and help make up for the loss of the 1st. jagr fetched a 1st last year... morrow fetched a decent prospect. grabvoski maybe lets you move a center at the deadline. this is all assuming the devils don't overachieve like they seem to do so often.

I still think Jagr is the best option for one simple reason. He can be signed to a one year deal. To me that's huge. No obligation after this year with the opportunity to get the real FAs next year.

Sure... Lou don't care the team is bankrupt and he is retiring.

You've become pretty mouthy as of late. I'm starting to remember why i hate Islander fans.

Hope you guys make it again this year. I would hate to see all this fire go away, after a failed follow up to a potential flash in the pan playoff appearance.

I think we she stand pat or spend our remaining cap on 1 year deals.

There's three ways to go here:

1. Sign Brunner (low risk, potential upside as he adjusts to the NHL for another season) and go with that hodgepodge of forwards for a season. It'll be a respectable but still non-playoff team, and then sell for some picks at the deadline.

2. Trade for someone big and start the rebuilding around Schnieder plus whoever that person maybe.

3. Invest in a time machine, go back 15 months, shoot Bernier in the foot before Game 6 of the 2012 Stanley Cup Finals and go from there.

It's likely a lost cause. Kind of like me trying to battle my ever-receding hair line. These guys either buck up and over perform or we don't make the post season. Better to stand pat, take our lumps and reorganize next season where our cap situation allows us to buy better players.

My fear with that is they rush up a forward prospect and ruin their development because the team can't score goals. With no 1st rounder, tanking isn't an option and Reid Boucher needs some seasoning in my opinion to reach his potential at the NHL level.

I'd prefer not to hand over 1/3 or my salary to the government to provide the offspring of illegal immigrants free breakfast. Still, it's something i have to accept.

exactly. we have the money. we don't have any big signings within the team, and we have guys coming off the books next year and the following few. i think we could spare 4mil on Brunner.. no matter how ridiculous it is.

Would you prefer handing over 1/3 of your salary to provide some jerk-off on the other side of the country free medical care for his running nose?
