Oh and Kostka with more points than Gardiner. In any league this year. - honesthockey
Close but remember Bozak got them to the playoffs, so we can count those points too
With the leafs last season
Kostka 36 games 8 points
Gardiner 18 games 9 points |

Its funny how everyone just rips on Bozak and HH. Yet Nonis had the perfect opportunity to let Bozo go this summer, and he didnt. Maybe he sees something in Bozak that we dont. Maybe Bozak is still improving and could have a good year this year.
Fact is, Nonis took Bozo back instead of pursuing other avenues, and he WILL be on our team next season. I dont think Nonis would do this just for poops and giggles or because he is buddys with Kessel. If he signed Bozak because he is Kessel's buddy, he should be coaching children, not at the NHL level. Because thats how kids would be, let me play with my friend.
I'm ready for the rain to pour down on me now for defending Bozak, i am not a huge Bozak fan, but the guy is on our team and I beleive Nonis to be a smart hockey man, so i will trust he signed Bozak for a reason.
Why dont we all just see how this plays out next season before writing off Bozak completely. |

That's the thing, everyones rags on Bozak but he has played for two NHL coaches and both have used him as a #1 C. There must be a reason why other than "well, we have no one else" |

I dont think anyone would complain if Bozak was anything but the #1 Center.
I have no problem with him otherwise |

You are under the assumption that Nonis DIDN'T try to pursue other FA's.
Perhaps his pursuits failed.
Bozo was the fallback.
He's a number 2 center playing a number 1. |

Nothing to assume, Nonis said he made the offer to Bozak on July 4th, prior to Free agency starting. Bozak agreed to the deal on July 5th. |

Not true exactly
I've always said bozak is a serviceable player, won't do anythign spectacular, doesn't really hurt you.
Playing with kessel on line 1 and 1pp he should have more points but that is what it is.
the thing i rip on is a no pointer arguement with circular reasoning that bozak IS the reason the leafs made the playoffs.
that is wrong in so many ways

And nonis could talk to FA's beginning on the 3rd.
He would get a sense of whether they were signing. |

I can understand he isnt the prototypical #1C. Which is also why he doesnt get paid like one (thankfully).
So would folks be happy to have him as a #2C at 4.25? Still seems like a decent cap hit for a #2 guy.

I think thats exactly it, no other options.
If Lupul played the full season, Bozak would be tied with Dion for 7th on the team in scoring.
