How about 93?
- Tee-Dot

well if someone can live up to that number then sure. Lets say i play for the leafs, i am a 80pt-100pt center or something, i wore 93 all my career through when i was a kid, junior, ohl, whl, ahl, etc. And i make the leafs and i am that good of a player, and i want 93. You will not allow me to wear #93? Like they have no choice but lets say that person asked gilmour if he can wear the number to carry it on, pretty sure he would say yes

I agree, as long as the player puts in time with the team and earns it, I see no point retiring numbers for good. Any player that doesn't want anyone to ever use his number again is a douche
- Jay Uller

Although I agree with you. I don't believe it's the players choice?

Wasn't the argument although that's the way you wanna justify Grabovski then go ahead. Point is less Grabovski and more Bozak equals playoffs.
- honesthockey

the year before the leafs were a 48 game playoff team also.

Solid argument

So 2010-11

Grabovski TOI/G - 19:21
Bozak TOI/G - 19:16

No playoffs

2011-12

Grabovski TOI/G - 17:36
Bozak TOI/G - 18:50

No playoffs

2012-13

Grabovski TOI/G - 15:34
Bozak TOI/G - 20:18

Playoffs

- honesthockey

haha such a ridiculous argument to point out one single change among an infinite amount of changes, and call that the single reason for the playoffs

If he puts up 60 pts next year and the Leafs make it, it may just be a league wide retirement. Bozak will be forced to wear 99

The leafs made the playoffs because Kostka got playing time this year. FACT

I'll save the time of replying to your rebuttals by saying

"did they or did they not make the playoffs and did kostka get more playing time this year"

Yes?

then it is fact.

what's that you say? that's ridiculous?

I ask you this then. did kostka get more playing time this year... yes or no?

you'd think playing with a top ten scorer and another good winger on the first line and first power 60 pts would be the bare minimum for a superstar like bozak. yet somehow he finds a way to be so unselfish, that he doesnt' even want to get points.

so that his contract stays reasonable because he knows he's the franchise and that way the leafs can build around him

in a backwards way its kind of my point, put a players jersey in the rafters as a token of appreciation, retiring the number is unnecessary

Seriously. Was Matt Stajan a 50 point player in Toronto? Yes. You don't win with Matt Stajan in your lineup.
- honesthockey

as a 3rd line center but not 1c.
