You don't need to have dozen of highly touted prospects to build a contender. The Hawks had Toews, Kane and Seabrook (Keith was already established). Habs pool prospects isn't that far away. - Habsody
Specially since they dominated the AHL last year.... |

I didn't expected Bergevin to do much this summer, the UFA pool wasn't that very exciting. There was Clarkson, but I wouldn't have taken him at the money and term the Leafs gave him.
I also didn't expected a total team overhaul, and when I think of it, it reminds me of the summer they got Gomez, Gionta, Cammalleri...so I'd rather see the Habs be patient and keep building.
I just don't get Brière though. I really don't. - stinger67
He is a proven goal scorer, and as we saw in the playoffs nobody could score for poop. He is small but oh well he becomes the best sniper and second most skilled forward and for 4 million for 2 years not a bad or horrible deal. |

Always excuses with the Canadiens. Every other team in our division got better this summer. Except us. And OF COURSE you have to give up something (farm or picks) or use up cap Space to acquire big talented players. Bergevins statement that u do not improve your team via trades is HOGWASH how exactly do u improve ure team via draft when u r drafting middle of the pack ech year?? Also look at Boston n Chicago yes some of their players were drafted but key components like chara sidenberg ference mcquaid sequin Horton Kelly peeverley hossa sharp n list goes on came via trades n free agency. Bergevin is another in a LNG list of gms here who r sleepin at the wheel! |

I thought Galchenyuk, Gallagher and Tinordi were playing for the Habs, my apologies. Were you seriously expecting such a young team (Bulldogs) to overachieve last year? And Sylvain Lefebvre was a rookie head coach too. |

I think they'll do better this year. But I really don't think they have the prospect pool to be a force in the NHL anytime soon. |
