I don't know what a maquette is, and frankly, I don't care. But the fact that there were no fans there, was a direct function of my earlier post and nothing else. The Expos always had great fans throughout the 70s and 80s, and the beginning of the 90s. Growing up with them is something that will stay with me forever and I try to teach my son about them and show him pictures, etc. But anyone who even mentions the lack of fan support as a reason for the franchise moving, has absolutely no clue what they are talking about. - hscesq
don't act so surprised...
I'm not saying any different than you, and I did not say people didn't love their expos and didn't support them...just that in the maquette, there are more fans than what showed up at the end. Tell me where I went wrong in that statement.

il y avait plus de fans sur la maquette que dans les estrades... - TouenneTiiTree
The Molson Centre was far from full at the end of the 90s. Would you say that the Habs had no fans? |

The Expos were even bigger then the Habs in Montreal/Quebec province for a few years. And that's no small task. |

me too, I grew up going to the Big O and enjoying baseball.
The strike of 94 was a huge blow to the franchise. They had what it takes to win the World Series that year. |

Of course they did. Doesn't mean they would have, but they were 6 or 7 games ahead of the Braves, best record in baseball, and would have at least been relevant for a few years. I was in law school with all these Americans and they were ripping through the season. Was awesome. Had my Wetteland jersey on (yes Marty, it was tucked of course) and I was ready for the playoffs. |
