You are right...no other team have ever lost Parise in one year, and Kovalchuk the following. This is the first time it's ever happened. Probably the last...too. Unless Kovalchuk signs in Minny, then Parise leaves, then Kovalchuk retires...but it's unlikely.

Much more likely that Kovalchuk signs, Parise retires, then Kovalchuk leaves. Given the length of Pari's contract.

i think the NHL should have a silent bidding on that draft pick before the season starts, where teams can use capspace to bid on the pick.

That sure helps teams with little budget...increase capspace without paying a player.

Coyotes offer 15 millions in capspace for it
