Only d-men on Calgary worth trading for are Giordano and Brodie. Either one, better be a (frank)ing good prospect (Calgary has zero reason to trade either of them; I'll be especially pissed if it's Brodie.) I suppose Wideman might be of some use on the right team but his contract is awful and so it'd probably be more trouble than it's worth.

If anything they should be trying to get another d-man, pretty thin past Wideman, Gio and Brodie.

He's very calm with the puck... Doesn't do anything outstanding, just does everything really well. No weaknesses in his game.

He will never be a top pairing d man, likely top out as 2nd pair. I wouldn't pay him more than 2m on this new contract.

I'd omit Carlson, Hamhuis and Green from that list. Green is horrible defensively, and Hamhuis and Carlson are good, but not amazing IMO

he was WSH's 2nd first round pick last year, something like 15th overall. He's a 6'4 power forward who can score. If I'm CGY I hold onto Brodie unless I'm blown away by an offer

Don't get me wrong, I take Hamhuis at 4.5m or Carlson at 3.97m over Phaneuf at 6.5m anyday. But if I had to choose one, regardless of cap, I take Dion.

hate to pull out this card, but you aaaaarreee a leafs fan.

I hate the canucks, but I think Hamuis is one of the better D men in the league. I'd personally take him over Letang just because I hate letang's style n bad fit in EDM
