But, is it a contact that teams will regret almost as soon as it's given out? Sometimes when you outbid everyone else you get the item only to realize that you value it the most and nobody else does.

Also, if he's taking up that much room on the cap for 5+ more years how does that affect Reilley and Gardiner when they are due. My point is, can you improve your defence more without Dion than with Dion?

Wearing the "C" has often changed the way guys played, and in Dion this may be the case. I just don't see how that can change at this point, just hopping he can mature into this role.

Reality, this team is likely 2 years away from going deep into the playoff rounds, hoping that he will peek at the right time along with the others....

It's pretty safe to say that each UFA crop is getting worse and worse, so unless Rielly or Gardiner becomes that big minute eater top pairing guy down the road, there's fewer and fewer options available.

I think id rather have Tanev and Corrado over him aswell, higher panic threshold. He's be a #7 on my team, gets the Keith Ballard treatment. Anyone have that video of Jarko Ruutu tripping up Phaneuf after he drops his gloves?

This. Dion is the closest thing to Scott Stevens the NHL has to offer. End of story. Wouldn't be at all surprised if thats why luo wants him. this is around the same age Stevens became a devil.
