I hate the canucks, but I think Hamuis is one of the better D men in the league. I'd personally take him over Letang just because I hate letang's style n bad fit in EDM

I don't believe availability on the market says anything about value. Teams are always looking to improve, and unless you have literally the best player in the world, nobody is ever untouchable.

That being said, the best player in the world was traded, too.

The problem with Phaneuf to NJ is that a) Nonis would probably want him out of the Eastern conference, and b) there is no deal here that makes sense for either side.

New Jersey would have to give up premium young talent and Toronto would be blowing a 25 minute per night hole in its defense.

It was a great trade for the Leafs. Burke got a first rounder who's looking great as a PM D-Man, and Lupul has put up star stats since joining the Leafs.

Beauchemin stunk in Toronto,. Burke turned a free UFA signing into Gardiner/Lupul. Brilliant trade.

Also, given the fact Anaheim let Beauchemin go via free agency only to trade for him 18 months earlier, was a terrible move on their part. Beauchemin wanted to stay there all along.

Toronto isn't trading him...they need him more than the Devils do...period.
If, and that's a big if...he were to be traded, it would have to be NJ offering up quite a bit...Volchenkov and Henrique or something ridiculous like that...or Jon Merrill
