Mez will be cleared in like a week and a half.

I wanted J Subban

I don't buy the "he is better then me" comment by PK, BUT he was very worth the pick in my opinion.

He's a little small but immensely talented. Don't know how you pass him up there for a 4th line agitator, especially given the pedigree.

Obviously they gave Carolina, Washington, Edmonton, and the Maple Leafs far and away a better chance at winning it all than us I don't see any of those teams even making the playoffs next year
- JAKEw1234

And per Vegas, we have gotten worse since getting Streit, Razor and Vinny and losing Bryz (and Danny ).

I'd have taken many before Tyrell Goulbourne. Like Ryan Kujawinski, Anthony Duclair, Jimmy Lodge, Cole Cassels, & Oliver Bjorkstrand.

Really likes the last 2 on that short list.

As soon as doctors clear him to play he'll be much more tradeable.

That's the #1 thing I'm looking forward to, proving everyone wrong. Everyone seems to think that because we missed the playoffs we are now in this permanent hole from which we will never emerge. They forget that it's the 2nd time that we've missed the playoffs in 18 years, and not only have we replaced crucial pieces to the puzzle (Streit with Carle), we have gotten upgrades over the pieces we lost these 2 past offseasons (Vinny with Briere, Razor with Bryzgalov, Voracek with Jagr).

Agreed. The main people I want to prove wrong are my snickering "friends" from here who tease me for wearing orange colored glasses 24/7. They view hockey as a 3rd tier sport.

How can you be so angry that they drafted a player, that we as fans, know very little about? It's all hype for us. We can read the write ups and scouting reports. Watch highlights on youtube or some other on line source. But that doesn't mean any of us know the player, or his potential.

haha...yeah, I have issues Ok, I will reveal my secret identity. I'm Sean from the Dirty 30. I'm frustrated that I didn't go to NJ to personally boo Morin so I take it out here

Just Kidding of course. JSaq and everyone from Philly will probably understand the reference.

Look, I really hope the kid pans out and is everything they hoped for and more. Unlike those idiots who boo'd McNabb and then found every excuse to root against him, I will cheer Morin on when he becomes a Flyer. Love the one your with and all that. But...

From an organizational standpoint, my problem is the whole definition of insanity thing. They seem to do the same things over and over and expect different results. They always seem to fall in love with physical, gritty, or energy players rather than truly skilled players. You know.. "he was born to be a Flyers" kind of guys.
Well, who are the Flyers best two players right now...G and Jake. And guess what...they are skill players.

Yes, you need the physical, gritty and energy guys. You can't have a bunch of 5'10 players on a team these days. But in my mind they need at least one more high-end skilled winger on the parent club as well as another top-line defenseman, 2-3 more skilled forwards on the farm and 3-4 more skilled defense prospects. So loading up on stay at home defenseman is a questionable strategy.

Hate the pick, not the playa

I can. Let's just look at Hockey's Futures Talent Analysis:

Marshall is regarded as a hard-working, stay-at-home defenseman who plays with a physical edge. He skates very well, has excellent balance and moves the puck efficiently.

Subban: The young blueliner's offensive abilities are well documented, but to progress within the organization's ranks he needs to continue to refine his play within his own end. Last season he showed a willingness to improve in that regard and he has all the tools to be a solid contributor to the club's organization.

You state that they always do the same thing over and over. And fall in love with physical, gritty, or energy players. Then state that that 2 skill players are their best players. How did they get Giroux? The drafted him. How did they get Voracek? They traded for him. They weren't just given those 2 players. The Flyers draft record is filled with skill players.

I don't see drafting one player as loading up on stay at home defenseman. They drafted Ghostibhere last year. And they drafted Haag this year. Both are puck moving defenseman.
I don't see any viable reason to not like the Morin pick at this point.

Actually Hagg does play a physical game despite being a puck mover as well.

Actually, both of these make my point. G was not even their top choice (obviously) and they went away from type to pick him. Vorachek as well. No one said... "Well gee, Bob, I can totally see why they targeted this kid in the trade. He has Flyers player written all over him". Read and Gus don't fit the typical mold either, same with Straka. Of course, others like Zherdev and Nodl don't work out, so yes, it does cut both ways.

And please don't get me wrong...I'm not against players like Scotty, and Simmonds, or Schenn (or even Rinaldo). We need some of them. But I would love to see more Giroux's and less Laughtons, more Eric Karllson (had to go off team for that one) and less Morin's, more Straka's and Less Nessmans.

Actually, in fairness to Holmgren, they really have seemed to change strategies on other fronts - trading young players for aging veterans, trading away draft picks, giving up on young players too soon (though we'll see on this one) etc.

That's what I hear. He's not a big bruiser like Morin, but it sounds like he plays a game similar to Meszaros, without the duct taped-on shoulder and safety pinned-on achilles.
