I know and i think that is the problem, you over rate him, we under rate him but either way he is going to get paid. Even with the hometown haircut its not going to be a pay decrease.

While I understand why Oilers fans wouldn't do Smid+ for Phaneuf since there is a huge risk of him leaving for nothing you guys need to remember that your getting the best player in the deal and you have to get him from a Leafs team that desperately needs him.

It will cost more than Hemsky and Smid. Problem is the Oilers shouldn't do that deal for the rental scare alone, this deal is not getting done unless Edmonton is desperate for a physical defenceman who can play 22+ minutes a game.

I think Leaf fans rate Phaneuf very appropriately. He isn't a STUD and makes mistakes but at the same time he is a very useful dman that does a lot of good things too. He is overpriced but so are a third of NHL hockey players....

I think your issue is that the Leafs wouldn't trade one of their important players for guys that no one else wants. It's your Leaf hate-on biased that has you feeling like Leaf fans over rate their players.

All I said was Kessel was the closest thing we had. Hall is fricking awesome. Huge fan of his, the tyler vs taylor debate was never a debate in this household. THere are at most 4 players in the NHL I might take over Hall....key word might.

He's good and realistic...although I disagree quite a bit with him on this.
There are a lot more then 4 players I would take over Hall in the NHL (and I am a big Hall fan too).
