On a side note if you live anywhere near kits you need to head down there tomorrow. The Vancouver beach volleyball open is happening and its spectacular in all aspects.

Keep believing that LU had value at the deadline and this off season. I still believe in santa and the tooth fairy.

You gotta figure at least 60% of that equation would be the quality of the starting goalie. Probably another 25% would be the quality of the backup. Eriksson and Cannata demonstrate a pretty decent future though
- Morris

Eddie Lack before his injury was considered a top goalie in the AHL, a mobile 6'5" now healthy.
Eriksson was apparently the best goalie in the SEL last year, Lundquist SEL dominance.
Cannata was a finalist for the Hobie Baker runner up in 2011. Your probably right, Im sure one of them could be a starter.

Today's Blog
I'll sum up this blog for everyone:

Trolls: Omg stupid Canucks why did you guys trade Schneider and now you're stuck with Luongo and he won't even report! Canuck fans are so stupid, can't believe you guys just stood by and let Gillis make that deal! OMG I'M SO ANGRY ARGHH! HAHAH!

Canucks homers: Luongo is just as good as Schneider! Leafs/Oilers suck!

"Reset" Fans: Where's our Edler and Kesler trades!? We can't win with those 2! I demand Flyers forwards damnit!

The rest of us: ........(frank) this poop I'm going outside.

- Nucker101

Someone's still bitter about the trade....

Well I think one could argue and win that Brodeur is, but beyond that....maybe Roy?
- I-own_da-Northwest

Roy won 4 cups, 2 of them nearly on his own. He IS the best in NHL history regardless of what the stats say. I'm a big Lu supporter but he's pretty far down the list for best of all time unless he wins a couple of Cups. I can think of three Hab goalies off the top of my head.

This is the lineup i predict John Torterella will choose to start the season out of training camp. A big 2 way lineup injected with young legs.

Sedin Sedin Jensen(Jensen skilled finisher, fast, big body, impresses in camp)
Burrows Kesler Horvat(Kesler alternates center with Horvat, Horvat top 6 skill stud)
Higgins Gaunce Hansen (Gaunce will have solid 2 way wingers on shutdown line)
Sestito Richardson Kassian (Kassian will get spot duty with Sedins)
Weise Lain

Booth waived after poor camp, reports to AHL with full salary.
Schroeder to AHL
Shinkaruk to WHL

Hamhuis Bieksa
Edler Tanev
Garrison Corrado
Weber

Luongo
Lack
Eriksson (to start AHL, Start NHL if Luongo gets suspended without pay, chooses not to play)

Whats Torts history with young players? Has anyone done the research with what he did in TBay and NYR. I like your lineup I just dont think they will do that. I think after that Lu tweet of "cant wait to see MG next week" Its safe to say the dude is coming back. You aren't tweeting stuff like that if your not coming back.

I actually find it hard to get a proper read on some of his tweets - not knowing him personally of course, it's difficult to tell if he is being completely sincere or if there is an underlying tone of sarcasm. I guess we'll see

Torts has a history of pushing young players I believe, being a new coach, I think there will be a clean slate, no loyalties, and the best players will play. I think that some young guys will out perform vets in camp and Torts will play them over a vet if he thinks the team has a better chance to win. Horvat and Gaunce are solid "Ryan O'Reilly"ish type players, big, all the skills/intangables, put over the top by character and 2 way game mixed with toughness and man strength at a young age. Id love for bold lineup moves, like what Edmonton does with there young players, the only difference is the Canucks can actually shelter there young talent, 2 vets with 1 rookie on each top 3 lines I would hope. A rookie with the Sedins, a rookie with Kesler and Burrows, a rookie with Higgins and Hansen. Last years roster was so stale, heres to change.

I know they were mega studs back in the day but Torts in his 1st year with Tbay played Lecalvier and Richards as 20year olds. He played them a lot as they were his leading scorer and 3rd leading scorer. He played Dubinsky, Callahan, Staal as very young guys as well in his 1st season with the rangers.

That sounds really good, I hope Torts does that in Vancouver too. I have a really good feeling about Bo Horvat, I think he's the real deal.

Ian Esplen: Goalies
We're good

Right now Luongo is the No. 1 guy. Many of the “Lumour Mongers” out there believe he is pissed off and that there is a possibility that he will hold out in order to force a trade.

Gillis has made it very clear that is not going to happen. He will be the No. 1 or he will be sitting at home.

- IanEsplen

So far Ian, you and Gillis's batting average of being right regarding your goalie controversy is at a less than respectable 0 %

I appreciate the confidence though.

I like to think winning cup doesn't make a goalie. Niemi has a cup. Crawford Has a cup. Bob now has a vezina. King henrik has no cups but I don't ever see anyone saying he is a bad goalie. Heck tukka rask has 0 cups won himself and everybody is pretty high on him.

Torts doesn't care if your a rookie or vet for playing time . What he cares about is two way play . If you don't work hard in the d-zone you won't play . He also doesn't play the fourth line much or the sixth d-man . All the talk about AV juggling lines a lot it's the same thing with Torts . One thing about him if you play hard he will play the hell out of you , but that can change from game to game . I've seen this first hand as I'm a long time ranger fan that watches all ranger games .

I think even you'd have to realize that if Loungo plays out his full contract he'll go down as the best goalie in nhl history. How many goalies that played in Toronto for 5-10+ seasons could you even say are in the top 10?
- I-own_da-Northwest

There are 2-3 goalies in the NHL right now that I would take over Lou. Not saying he sucks...but "best goalie in NHL history"?

Right now Lu is not even in the top 5 in the current NHL. We were talking all time career though. He wont go down as the best all time but if he plays 5 - 7 more years he will have a very high win total and will be considered as a GREAT Goalie. I dont think he ever enters the Broduer and Roy class though.

So long as the team doesn't bottom out. I wouldn't count on him getting the 30+ wins he gets every year for 5-7 more years.
