Luongo is amazing, and i think that trading schnieder was the best idea (although i feel they could have gotten slightly more than that 9th pick) if he gets his mind right, hes the best currently in the league IMO that is
but i disagree he will go down as the "best goalie in NHL history" thats just an exaggeration - digitalbath
???
That was a fantastic return on a largely unproven albeit highly touted goalie. |

Dude are you for real? Luongo's never won a Vezina, a Cup, or even led a major goaltending category once in his (frank)ing career. - DrChristianTroy
He's got 10 years left to do so and he's what...one of four goalies still active with 325 wins or more with 10 seasons left.... If he averaged 25 wins/season he'd retire around 600 wins. You think every goalie can do that? |

Vancouver goaltending is in a “rock solid” state right now. Roberto Luongo, Eddie Lack, Joacim Eriksson and Joe Cannata make up what might be the best foursome in any NHL organization’s crease.

If he never wins a Cup, it won't matter. Sure some greats retire without one and are still regarded as greats, but it's different with Lu due to his past playoff performances. he needs to be hungry for redemption. At the very least, he'll need a deep run where he essentially puts the team on his back. |

Yeah, Cujo did and he was 1 game over .500, at the end of his career. I'll bet Luongo will have similar numbers. |

key word was SLIGHTLY, i bet they could have gotten that first and a 3rd pick. NJ needed a goalie ASAP, and schneider isnt unproven, he earned his starting position over lu |

Hahaha good god you can't be serious? The leafs 3rd goalie is better than your 2nd. I'm not going through the rest of the teams. That would literally take all day.
And if the Leafs goaltending situation is better than yours... Oh man you know you're in trouble. Flyers level trouble. - SameOld

I think if they get the chance again he'll be fully capable. Torts has his back AV was a p.o.s., they didn't win because of him...they won somehow with him. But every year either in the playoffs or right before he was due for a piss-poor performance and for whatever reason AV would let him get shalacked for 6...7...8... Goals and get him rattled. How often did you see Torts do that to Lundqvist? |

Drew Macintire... Came in as a stopgap and lit it up in the AHL last year (13- 5 -3, 1.83, 0.931) and did (lucky!) poop like this...

Decent AHL goalie.
Used to be in the Canucks system. Think he got an NHL game with them, if I remember correctly. |

Debatable.
Unless Lack's injury has sewered his career, I'd take Luongo, Lack, Ericksson, and Cannata. |

Thats because Lundqvist was his best player. Torts won't hesitate to sell out anyone he thinks isn't playing his way. I can't wait to watch the daily media battle its going to be spectacular. |

For sure. I don't think anybody expects him to pull a Tim Thomas and take the NHL by storm in his 30s, but still, its good to have a decent AHL vet to help the youngsters. I think that Garrett Sparks is ready to join him at the Marlies next year, so that'll be a good person to help him learn to be a pro. |

A word of caution: Don't get too high on Ericksson until he's had a chance to play in the NHL. We had the "goalie of the future" and "best player not in the NHL" in Jonas Gustavsson... we all know how that worked out.
He may turn into a bonafide NHL goalie, but don't bank on it just yet... |

VAN's SV% last year was tied 7th with EDM, TO, n DET. at .917
They're now missing their starting goalie who had a .927. Lu's numbers may have been low due to lack of games, but I don't see VAN's goaltending as rock solid right now. |

Am I the only one that thinks goalie prospects, however highly touted, are worth about as much as a fart in a balloon until they prove it in the NHL for at least a couple years? - TheTaoOfSemenko
That's my opinion of all prospects. |

Didn't Anderson lead the league in Save % & GAA? Maybe if Luongo had played 4 more games he would have been up there... Ray Emery played 21 games with much better numbers as well. |
