Again I don't think a mafia owner cares squat about the IIHL . He cares about his team only
- VANTEL

Mr. Wilson nailed it when he said that he will care when the player is banned from playing and other Russian heavy weights start blaming him for that player not being able to play at different events.

starting to get pissed about pens not doing anything about clearing cap space and help toughen up the bottom 6. after prospect camp next week they better do something. As a fan and season ticket holder I am not happy about the makeup of this team... and don't feel like watching them win in regular season and lose in playoffs again...

Nothing has changed except letting the new deadline acquisitions walk and losing cooke... trading tk was a none factor bc they sat him anyways and then they pick a (frank)ing goalie as their pick....

DB is going to ruin this team with his coaching style

Why?

It's a serious question, except to satisfy your impatience, why is there a need to rush into any moves in July?

Dude you're going to be disappointed when they finally do clear cap space. It's really not going to be much more than to open up space for Bortuzzo and Jeffery. If they move Nisk, I'll bet they sit on the remaining money.

Like it or not, this is basically their roster. No player they pick up now is going to make much of difference anyway.

I'm there with you on DB. I think they needed a change at the top. However I also think it's been evident for weeks that Shero didn't feel like much of a change was needed. Only time will tell.

It's not one scumbag, its three or four. Filatov and Radulov are two more. There will be more coming.
- Oneonta Penguin

Ok but kovi was the only one that was relevant in the nhl.

That's right, it was Moskos over Wieters.

Burnett wouldn't be a Pirate if the Yankee's weren't paying half of his salary. It's amazing NY agreed to that deal. Again, credit to Huntington.

- madmike71

The rotation will be even better after Burnett convinces his old buddy from Toronto doc Holliday to come to the pirates for cheap as a FA

It doesn't matter ... the other two were highly regarded prospects that were supposed to make serious impact.

If the season continues like it has been going, I'm willing to bet some guys would be more open to come to Pittsburgh as free agents and I'm talking good ones.

I hope Neil does something about a bat.

You think the Pirates are even going to pay Burnett what he wants next year let alone add a guy like Holliday? Not a chance. That's the problem, the Pirates are not going to suddenly open up the checkbook. Like I said before, Wandy and Burnett wouldn't be Pirates if their old clubs weren't paying half of their salaries.

I'd say there's probably a 30% chance that either Wandy and Burnett are Pirates next year.

I think Burnett returns. He LOVES playing in Pittsburgh and is very comfortable. I think he will take a discount. I don't think Wandy will be back.

Nobody missed them after a year then radulov came back and showed exactly why nobody missed them. They can take Russian prospects if the want because a majority of them won't do anything in the nhl and the really good ones will be making an impact in the nhl right away and probably have little interest in going back to Russia. Malkin was asked about playing in the khl before and he said he wants to play in the best league with the best players ( the nhl).

Well Burnett said he's playing for the pirates or retiring so he doesn't have much negotiating leverage also he loves the city. And they will probably both be back next year the only reason burnetts salary was so high was because the yanks overpaid he wouldn't get anything close to that as a 38 year old.

Remember, you save 5 million when Barmes is gone. He won't be back. Mercer can handle it, unless someone more significant comes.

As for AJ, he is living proof at what a change of scenery can do. He is sort of a cult hero in Pittsburgh. He loves playing in Pittsburgh.

It's kind of a big change going from Yankees media to pirates there was a lot of pressure put on him in NY and every pitch of every start was so overanalyzed and coming to Pittsburgh he could just go out and play, solid follow on twitter too.

Pitching in New York has ruined the careers of many - Jeff Weaver is another example. He was a quality, All-Star pitcher in a small market - Detroit. Go to the Yanks and he fell apart.

Hope it doesn't happen. I think Malkin wants to be here, but I could be wrong.

I think Ovie is a bigger risk though. Didn't he threaten not to come back after the lock-out?

- Boom.

100% agree. Movie and IMO Yaks even more then movie are the 2 biggest threats.

Screw that. Since day #1 of his career Burnett has been Up and down. Dominate stuff but no brains or heart

To be fair, at least in the last few yrs it makes sense. What a terribly designed field. A shallow flyly ball into right is a homer.

You don't act now. You wait til after your prospect camp to see what guys can realistically make it to the big club. Hell, I'd even say wait til right before training camp, then other teams may be in more desperate need for a defenseman and you unload nisk for possibly a 2nd or 3rd.

Questioning his heart is out of the question he's always giving everything he has out there. Brains is mostly on the catcher for pitch selection and whatnot.
