Sorry, MS I gotta disagree. JT has the skills that make you nervous whenever he's on the ice. I do think Schneider will be better in New Jersey when he becomes the legit #1 guy. - tomburton99
See my Edit.
I agree JT is crazy skilled, but I guess I meant more value, in that a stud #1 goalie is more valuable to a team than 1 great forward, even if they're JT good.
See: Penguins, Pittsburgh.
Or for example, what would be worse for the Rangers, if they lost Nash or Hank? |

Arguably Schneider when you factor in that a stud number one goalie is more valuable to a team than 1 stud forward.
And I'm by no means trying to undervalue JT. He's one of my favorite players in the NHL.
Edit: I guess that's not "talent" per say. More so value. - MannySilvers
No GM in the league would take Schneider over Tavares.
It would be career suicide. |

Hank obviously. And that's why I said once Schneider starts the majority of the time next year he'll be more valued. |

I'll do Barch, Jansenn, Olesz, and hell I'll even throw in Urbom for John Tavares. Pretty fair trade honestly. - MannySilvers

Isles wouldn't pay him what he got. Also the Isles have been looking to add Clutterbuck for a while. Him and JT are very good friends. |

Gah I'm not actually saying Schneider > Tavares it's just a point when he says "Doesn't com even nearly close" I'm just proving a point that their is nothing in my opinion more valuable to a team than a great goalie.
Schneider was fantastic in Vancouver and he's now on a team that's sort of known to flatter goalies. I think he'll be great.
You can have the greatest offense of all time but if you're goalie is bad you are going no where.
And vice versa, can have very mediocre offense and a great goalie can take you far.
Again see: Penguins, Pittsburgh
or Flyers, Philadelphia.
Or hell in the late 2000's Rangers, New York for the opposite example.
If Nabakov was a little less horrible in that series the Islanders would have beaten the Penguins, both goalies (Fleury, not Vokoun) played poorly and it nearly equalized two teams that clearly don't have equal rosters in terms of skill. |

In all seriousness I wouldn't care the least bit about kovy leaving if we get Mcdavid he is the kid who is actually getting compared to Crosby and is supposed to be quite a bit better then Mckinnion. But we don't end up with players like that it will be Calgary or Buffalo or some other team with only 5 guys with NHL experience and I might be in the minority and the team will look a lot different come his draft but I think we will be to good to come dead last and if we did we would lose the lottery |

Isles first round pick for Schneider?
You still have Brodeur.
You don't have first rounder next year, and you never know what the Crazy Isles will do!!!
Could be a top 5 pick!!! |

Well, if we missed the playoffs we would have a chance of winning the lottery, but the percentage would be low if we were 14th compared to say 5th. |

It just doesn't feel like it could happen to us. Hopefully by his draft he are the worst team but like I said I really don't see it I still see us this season really fighting for a spot |
