Don't forget about Reece Scarlett..... He fell to us in the 6th round after playing in the top prospect game in 2011 because of size (6' under 170lbs) and he had a horrible season that year before the draft ( 72 games 6 goals and 18 assists and was -37 ) but his last two years he has really improved (past year....67 games he had 9 goals and 40 assists 49 points and was a +14) he does have some good upside.

I know we have depth in defense, in the farm.. But I like it. We could be like Chicago with the depth they has in their 2010 cup, this year too. Santini, Severson, Gelinas, Merrill, Larsson, Urbom. What a group!

Future of our D core is definitely promising. Lets just hope they all develop properly. Have great vets to learn from on how to become pros in the next few years. As much as we all complain about Bryce, Volch, and Harrold they are loaded with character and set a good example.

I'm so glad this is a politics-free site (let's keep it that way). And the islanders/flyers/rangers fans have simmered down. A place of peace once again.

well since we suck and have no prospects it should be a short week, happy gilmour will have a meltdown by day 3 when he cant hit the net on a cardboard goalie and coz we are so broke he will have to share ice time with figure skaters

lol he's the answer! of course! Gerbe!
but a tryout doesn't hurt. He's just trying out along with Tedenby and Olesz.

what about both? 3mil/1 year for Jagr, 12mil/3 years for Brunner. And if/when Jagr slows down or gets injured or we just need an influx of speed or a different look in the playoffs... we have Tedenby who should be able to provide that.

Elias-Zajac-Ryder
Brunner-Loktionov-Zubrus
Clowe-Henrique-Jagr
Carter-Gionta-Bernier

Josefson, Tedenby

3rd line may be slow, but efficient. That would be a nice PP.

Jagr had 15 PPP last season. Not bad.

The wings and centers on lines 2/3 are interchangeable until we find the chemistry. But Jagr at 12mins EV+ PP should work and he hopefully won't die with a less compressed schedule, with less minutes per game. It gives us balanced scoring, toughness, vets, youth, and 2-way talent on every line, and a dominant 4th line. I'd go as far as to call this a competitive roster. Why not?

Im not against Jagr like everyone else. Even with his speed or lack of i should say he is still effective. And like you pointed out would really help the PP. No one runs a PP from the side boards like him.

EK saying we're in on...Phaneuf?

Good thing EK's just about wrong all the time when it comes to NJD rumors.

BIG UPDATE:

Word is there is a team in the eastern or western conference, who is trading a player who may or may not be a skater or goaltender, to a team that may or may not be a contender next year. This will surely shake the hockey world.

Stay tuned.

There's probably stock in the Phaneuf rumours seeing as NJ has no power play now.

It's just, what would we give up? Dion is also a UFA next year so unless either an extension is involved (but with a lesser cap hit than he has now) or the price is decently cheap I don't really want to do it.

Phaneuf?? When does the madness end?
A deal could be for urbom and a 2nd? Maybe Tedenby too? Phaneufs game is ok.. But I have a negative stereotype of his attitude and personality.

I just want Brunner. Jagr would be a bonus.
It should be noted, that adding Phaneuf gives us a top 3 dman.. Meaning we would have Phaneuf, Greene, Larsson, Salvador, Zidlicky, volchenkov as the d.. Which is a weird but solid mix. Those could also be the pairs too.

There really isn't a deal that works out between us and the leafs. I doubt that the leafs would simply give up Phaneuf for future assets, they have plenty of D prospects, and we can't afford to give up anyone up front.
