Yea.... that hurts that discussion an awful lot doesn't it... if he had this year and next it would be a different discussion... but it is going from one rental to another rental but we pick up a mid-teen 1st rounder.

I don't know... I bet we could resign Moulson and it would be a helluva cheaper than Vanek is too.

Keep Vanek instead and try to resign. I prefer him over Moulson. I for some reason dont believe this rumor though anyway. It has been brought up before.

I am with you sir.
Moulson's production in part is due to Tavares.
We all know Vanek's production is almost entirely due to himself only and nobody else.

What will it take to resign Vanek, is the question (if he does not want to be somewhere else, which brings everything into a new direction)?
Will somebody pay him $7M for 5 or 6 years? I am not sure on that, although I guess if Horton and Clarkson are getting $5M+ forever, then anything is possible.

Vanek already said "F U" to a 8M per year for 7 year contract....

I like him... and know he is our best scorer... but he is coming off as a complete b1tch in this whole situation. I am not blaming the guy for saying "hey.. I wanna know how long this rebuild is going to be because I am getting up there in age and want to win a ring" but that isn't what he said.

- JVince11

I hate how everybody is running with that "rejected contract" speculation. If he really turned that down, it would have been made official by some sort of media outlet, just like the Letang situation.

That may not be what he said but it may be what he means. Probably is, in fact.

They were 16th, because they were eliminated in the 1st round. With Vanek, their pick is closer to 20, maybe even 25.

Where did that rumor even start? I see it nowhere. Darcy has said that no contract extensions have been offered to Miller or Vanek. Just somebody trying to get some attention? Vanek is my favorite Sabre, but I can't blame the guy for not wanting to go through a rebuild. He's consistent, never had less than 20 goals in a season. He will be with is until trade deadline, his value will sky rocket for a contender.

Looking back, I'm so happy with the Pommer trade. Withy he way Zadorov is looking, we absolutely robbed Minny. Zadorov looks like he could be a top pairin guy, Larsson looks like a great 2-way C that'll probably be on the 3rd line, MAYBE 2nd. And as for Hackett, he could be our starter in a 2-3 years unless Enroth steps up big time.

They do seem like a team on the rise, but any chance we ask for their 2015 1st.
1)They won't have Vanek (probably)

2) moulson becomes UFA
3) Other than tavares their top 5 scorers from last year will be at least 30 or gone ie: Striet, mouslon, boyes, nielson

I feel like we might be able to get more back if we ask for a first rounder in the 2015 draft as it could be a better pick and could get more with it for Vanek as teams seem to undervalue picks in future drafts.

Next years draft is eh. My thought process has been all around but trade a guy with no good 1A center for a kid first and rental as well een if we flip him. Moulson is same age and a product of Tavares. Before him he had nothing. He would fail here.

I love the youth but think Vanek should stay. He doesn't backcheck? So what. Myers shouldn't be handcuffed to his own zone. Let players play their game. That's how Myers won the Calder. If Vanek rejected a contract and wanted out he'd prolly be out. We want to keep him and we should try to convince him this is the place everyone will want to be. You can be our star player and hell in a few years when youth is up here you are the reason why our franchise got to that point of a SCF een. You led the way. We believe you're our guy.

Until he says he wants out there is no convincing me otherwise I want Vanek here and for the future years for the kids and his own star value.

It's only "eh" outside of Reinhart, Ekblad, Nylander, and Ho-Sang. But I do agree with the rest of your statement.

we know, again the point is to flip Moulson for another 1st at the deadline. 3 firsts in 2014 sounds nice to me.
