I want Vanek to remain a Sabre too but I'd rather get something for him now than nothing a year from now. - sambarugh
Ok but you don't give up Vanek++ for Henrique alone, no way. I have no interest in Henrigue anyways. |

This is my take from the scrimmage that I posted on the other blog before Garth wrote yet another:
So here are my final thoughts from the scrimmage:
Zadorov stood out most on D. He was apart of evey play. Whether a huge hit or a great first breakout pass or even a strong D play without having to hit someone
Risto looked ok. I know he showed more in practice but it looked like he didnt want to do too much. He could have engaged more but all in all he was ok. He let the game come to him
Girgensons was everywhere. By far the best forward on the ice. You knew when he was out there. He either had the puck or took it. He is built like a brick $hit house. All solid. Couldn't knock him off the puck. It looks like he worked on his shot alot. He was quick at getting it off. He was beaming confidence.
Grigorenko looked like a kid who knew he made the team. He did have a few great passes and showed some imagination with his sauce pass. He was pretty responsible in his own end but didn't dominate like I expected.
Of the forwards taken in the second round: you could see why they were picked. They all showed something during the course that showed me they want to prove they can play here. Hurley is a young kid but didnt show signs of being the youngest player out there. Great hockey smarts he knew where to go. He needs to work on his strength which will come. Compher is a competitor. Like Girgensons he has that it factor the will that doesn't quit. I expect him to be more like a Drury type player. Lead by example. Bailey had two so so periods and then took over the third. If he keeps developing he can become what we all wanted from Drew Stafford
Jake McCabe looked like he put on some weight. He is a solid kid now. Lepkowski found that out the hard way. He is going to be a solid D
Those were the main guys I was keeping an eye out for. I do have to say that McNabb looked terrible. He wasn't hitting. Idk if it was the coaching staff telling him not too or what but he didnt impress me much. The only thing I can say was he was pretty vocal with his partner
Of the goalies Knapp was king today. Makarov looked terrible but he didnt have much help. Maybe it was him sitting until the 3rd to play. He did look good in the shootout though
In conclusion give it 3-4 years when these kids are all here and we just might have something worth watching!!! |

We said this 3-4 years ago that in 3-4 years we will be a winning team, we also said it 5 years ago as well. So if they move Vanek and Miller for picks and you add them with the picks we have now, in 8 more years we should be good? This whole thing is unacceptable it's always 3 years or 2 years or next year, enough is enough with Darcy and all his bull$$it thinking. |

Agreed with everything except the Stafford comparison. Bailey is much more dynamic than Staff could ever hope to be. More shifty, quicker hands, quicker feet. |

I must say, I haven't been this excited with our prospects ever before. Our second rounders will be golden for us IMO. |

I really didnt think we had this great of a prospect pool 3-4 years ago. Sure we had one or two guys that we thought highly off mostly Myers and Ennis but there are at least 5 guys that have a legit chance to be good if not great NHL players IMO |

my god if at least one of them isn't dealt by training camp I'm going to lose it.

Regier said he last spoke to the players’ agents around the draft. He hasn’t had any contract extensions talks.
“Talking to my counterparts around the league, that’s not unusual right now,” Regier said about the extensions. “For whatever reason, there’s not a lot of activity on players that are slated to become unrestricted in ’14, and there have not been a lot of contracts signed with those players now. I don’t know whether that will change in the next month or six weeks.”
Isn't that f@#k the general manager of THIS hockey team?!?
Why does he need to hear/follow/react to what his "counterparts" are doing?
He can't talk extension with any of HIS OWN free agents because the other GM's told him that it's not unusual to not have talks right now?
"I don't know whether that will change in the next month or 6 weeks"?!?!?!?! Well, who the (frank) does, Darcy?!? The tooth fairy?!?
Jeezuz, no wonder why this team never makes the playoffs.
Darcy, YOU ARE TERRIBLE. Go to your lake cottage or whatever it is you do during July and August, because you obviously can't run a hockey team properly because of what your "counterparts" are doing.
Joke.

Hey guys ....
Idk how many of you have purchased jerseys from that aliexpress.com that homie showed us... but I bought one yesterday and my bank just called me and told me they cancelled the transaction. They said the security risk was far too great on that website. They said peoples identites have been stolen due to a few of those chinese shops selling peoples credit cards numbers.
Just thought I'd pass the warning. Doesnt mean it is true for everyone. - MillerTime1130
Or go to Wallgreens and buy a pre-paid credit card and load I it up with as much $$$ you need. |

I like the idea that Ristolainen could be on the Sabres this season...but with them saying top 7...does that mean he may be the extra healthy scratch dman? I'm just wondering because I would rather have him develop more in the AHL than have him sit the bench. |

Man I've never seen a blogger hype up their teams players so bad, I mean their good prospects but seriously take it easy buddy.
Im starting to miss the daily blogs on how good Horton is and how buffalo needs to sign him at this point. |

Yeah he's pretty good, but not every leafs blog is written about how smooth a skater he is or how well he can pass like apparently every Garth blog is about how strong girgensons is, and how big and talented the two defence men are.
It's kind of amusing, but seriously he starting to sounds like the Sabres PR department, not even blogger. |

Here's the thing... Every year there are prospects with every team with a style of play that seems to indicate they will turn into the second coming of Lemieux, Gretzky, etc... told by many bloggers and fans alike.
We probably said the same thing about Stafford before the 2007 season began that we're saying about Bailey/Girgensons. Here's the thing: Darcy is too reactionary and too conservative with player movement. He's done it for the sixteen years he's been here so what makes you think he's going to change the way he operates?
We can hope he does, but until you get guys like Stafford, Miller, and Vanek out of here so we can get a return for them and possibly get a number 1 pick next year by tanking the 2014 season... expect more of the same. Always darkest before the dawn. |

On GARTH's blogs, we don't read, but we comment. On Kevin's blogs, we read, but we don't comment.
GARTH blogs are just the common commenting boards. We're just to lazy to transition to Kevin's. |

He looked decent. He scored 2 goals, but they seemed to be because he was in the right place at the right time. Solid speed, though. |
