Nope. He may feel the pressure, but a building from the ground up takes time. You can't throw money, picks and prospects around and buy a cup. In this salary cap er, you MUST draft well. In two years, when all of Mr. Yzermans picks and signings mature we will be able to look back and truly see how Yzerman did. |

Ya I really hope the results start showing for yzerman I think he has us on the right track to become a daily nhl contender every season! he just needs a bit more time. |

might be better off putting malone with Val Filppula malone stands in front of the nets and will shoot the puck rather then drouin and purcell. - todd1a
i thought of that but.. this changed my mind and made it look good to me
Each scoring line is typically made up a worker, a shooter, and a passer. The above projections do not mean Killorn is above Drouin on the depth chart (arguable, though for now), but his style fits that line while still contributing offense. I debated swapping Panik and Purcell, but Purcell is an excellent sniper and Vilppula fits the workhorse mode there. It also prevents two rookies from being on the same line. Ultimately it's irrelevant as lines change all the time anyway.
-boltsprospects
...maybe purcell felt that he had to undergo a different role last year, he was on the PP with st louis and stamkos, where we all know who the obvious sniper is there...
then he was constantly shifting between 1st/2nd line...where he would be with stamkos (sniper) and then working with lecavalier and killorn, well both of them can shoot when they want to..
but seeing purcell on this line where filpulla can be the hard worker and play smart hockey and get posession, drouin can feed purcell all day and purcell can feel like he is back in his place and can start shooting that (frank)ing rocket he has, it would be amazing. he can surely be a 30+ goal scorer with drouin and fillpula (in my opinion) . very gifted hockey player, and his line now has more chemistry and will able to him shoot in my opinion....i know its hard to say they have more chemistry now when we havent even seen them play, but its just the prediction
plus, drouin had almost 50 goals in the Q last season, its not like he cant put it in the net either ( i know his obvious assests) just sayin.. |

the messed up thing is, us in detroit, WANT tampa to succeed, steve Yzerman is a KING here, and not one person in detroit would ever wish him to fail, But here are all the Tampa fans just trolling on detroit... for being bankrupt? yeah because thas cool to make fun of in a hockey forum - digitalbath
Talk about trolling in a hockey forum, it get's a little old having folks come in here telling us we are not a hockey market. Hockey doesn't belong here, we should be A) moved or B) disbanded, etc. This despite the fact that we were 8th in the league in attendance and play in an arena that sits almost 20k. Oh, I forgot, the reason we are 8th in attendance is because we don't charge high prices for tickets. Need I go on? |

Exactly, had this argument with some Canadian fans saying we are not a real market because we can get tickets food and parking for what a big market team fan pays basically for parking.
Sports are for pleasure and when you have to come up with a mortgage payment to bring your family to a game that's just stupid and if your proud of that then you aren't to bright.
Love hockey for that reason and when the prices get to outrageous; will basically watch on tv; sad the way these athletes are paid and regular folks are squeezed out of watching games live but that is nature, so I'll be a rube in a southern market enjoying my low priced tickets and watching live games then these fans who probably very rarely enjoy a live game because of pricing. |

Yet more words of wisdom from the peanut gallery. He's not Vinny in terms of offense, but Vinny ain't him in terms of defensive play and cap nightmare. I'm over Detroit trolls harping on what we payed. YES IT (frank)ING MORE THEN HE'S WORTH, STOP (frank)ING TELLING US! Free agency is always expensive, but we as Lightning fans (most of us) are satisfied so please, if you don't have anything else to say, just GO AWAY! - Artyukhin76
It's not harping -- it's reality, why because we lived it.
Don't fall in love with the sexy name just because he came from the DET organization. Everything TB fans are trying to paint Filpulla, is true, but only 25% of the time -- DET fans are just giving a heads' up, sounds like you just dont want to accept it. |

You came in here acting like a jerk, running your mouth and trolling, but now you wanna play all nicey nice? We have a pretty good understanding of how you feel about him and what he brings to our team so on that note, STFU & GTFO. |

Guys like him we are accustomed too, being the red headed stepchild of the NHL. We've had success in NHL, but we're not welcome at the adults table.
I know Filppula won't be a star, I'm well aware of that, but being a .52 PPG player will make him around a 40 point per season guy. He is sound defensively and responsible in all three zones. Yzerman stated very bluntly that Valterri isn't here to replace Vinny (before you say 'that's for sure' save it). I am sure that he will improve our team for the reason he was brought in, a solid two way center that can win faces-off and contribute offensively. |

His contract pisses me right off. Kesler makes five million, and when his contract is up, he'll probably look at this and want 7. Yzerman is a crap GM. All the assets he gave up for a two unproven goalies is laughable. - Boinker
Are you sure you want to throw stones at other GM's for their handling of goaltenders?

Bouncing lines is just a result of on-ice chemistry or the lack thereof. The frustrating thing about Boucher was he would bounce lines that were playing well. As for Cooper he bounces a little but that is true across all of the NHL so we are no different. He doesn't play the 4th line a lot so that is very similar to Boucher. |

Those same Canadian fans don't mind the cheap ticket prices either as they bring their families down here for VACATION and get to see hockey while on vacation. It's ludicrous that they use the revenue sharing as their main argument when if they opened their (frank)ing eyes they'd realize their teams show profits hundreds of millions of dollars so it isn't revenue sharing that is driving up their prices, its nothing more than greedy owners making lots of profit and fans who are willing to pay, which in a free world is nothing more than capitalism |

The thing with that is he's a better player than a 40 point scorer but rarely gets there. And at $5mil he should be the 11-12 Fil and that's scoring 60 points. He's great defensively that's for sure but when you have the potential to be a 60 point scorer and can't or don't do it, it's potential wasted. I hope he works out there...but ya know..not too much since Wings and TBL are in the same division now. |

Dude if you watch the lightning we don't have trouble scoring goals! we can't stop teams from scoring on us! it's his two way hockey game yzerman wanted to bring into tampa. |
