When Pavs retires we will have all that cap space to sign someone like say a Stamkos.

well, if i came accross hating on filp im now, hes a good player, and to be honest TB was in need of a 2C, so no i dont think it was a bad deal, but i do think 5 million was a LITTLE steep, he will fill a void you guys need, im just hoping letting him walk and taking weiss for almost the same money was smart for detroit..

and to anyone out there hating on Yzerman for being a "bad GM", to me, hes making smart decisions, none of which may have an immediate impact on the team, but in a couple of years when the bolts start making the playoffs, my bet is they will stay there, none of that show up for a year and then go back to 1st over all picks because you couldnt keep the team together. Buying out Vinny was a tough choice im sure, but one that needed tobe done.

We've never had anyone as good as Stamkos in our system as far as goal scorers go since probably Yzerman. You need a good team to win the cup not a good player. And our kids are coming along nicely.

As Are ours thank to mr. Yzerman. In a few short years that he's been here, he has transformed our system from bottom 5 to top 5 and within 2 years we will fully experience it in Tampa. The 'douchebagyness' is more meant for the other Detroit fans (trolls).

You think a big part of the reason filp looked so good defensively was because of the fact that Datsyuk played against the top line? Yes Filp played against the 2nd line, but he also had zetterberg out there to carry the load defensively.

Big man pulling the bankruptcy card. The fact is, Detroit may be bankrupt but we finished 3rd in attendance last year. And guess what?? It was mostly Red Wing fans. I love it when we play in Tampa and you can hear the "lets go red wings" chants

The truth about Val is this:
We loved the way he played in his own end
We loved the way he could carry the puck in the offensive zone with speed
He never finished a hit, he always tried to make an extra unnecessary move
He disappeared for not just shifts but for games. He was also playing with Z and The Mule and still couldn't figure it out. Maybe he will be used differently in Tampa and I hope he does tear it up. He always left something to be desired

Just stating facts. I lived in NY when it was bankrupt. I liked Detroit it used to be a great city now I wouldn't even want to change planes there anymore. I have alot of friends from Detroit notice the from part - they all say the same thing. They can defend all they want but facts are facts.

I'll be honest, it's a 50-50 split when an original six is in town, but most of those "fans" will be wearing there Bolts jersey the very next game. There is a guy that works at one of our warehouses that has a half Red Wings, half Lightning crest TATTOED on his shoulder!!!

I'm not hating the Wings as a matter of fact I watch them alot. Great team and hockey tradition. Don't really like the city. That's all and some of the trolls.Most of the Wings fans here are knowledgable and agree we paid too much, so do we but the market was thin so we pay him 4 mil this year 5 the next then see what we got for it before we trade buy out etc. I'm not worried about Flip we pay Ohlund 3.6 mil to sit in the press box and Vinny another 3.2 to play elsewhere plus 1.6 to Prospal. By comparison 40 points for 4 mil is a bargain.
