Doug Weight had better number and a stanley cup ring, but I feel doesn't resonate with the fans as much as Smyth does. Smyth was the face of the franchise for the 90's and will (fairly or unfairly) be held under closer scrutiny because of our past success from 83 to 90.

Who else goes up before him? Ranford? Huddy? Lowe? (Lowe has the best chance with his '6 stanley cup rings', but not while Hall is here and K-lo is still active.)

Perhaps now but its not much to say that a player in his prime is better then our teams teenagers. Get back to us in a year or two when hall and yaks are 1-2 in league goal scoring.
