ZACH LEFT BECAUSE OF HIS WOMAN!!

understandable move. move back home, play with Koivu and a team with some good prospects. Minny isn't horrible. They got Suter. He did what was best in his eyes.

- MartysBetter88

When he left I wasn't mad, I was sad.

With Kovy I'm pretty pissed off.

Also was trying to cheer myself up:

Clutterbuck is better. Hes younger, less injury prone and actually scored goals last year.

Hahaha compared to Clowe's it's absolute bargain. And knowing he turned down more money elsewhere is okay with us as well.

Lol 30-40 pts. Let's revisit that number after a year with Kadri and Lupul.

- SameOld

He was already playing with Elias. He tends to lose his power game when playing with skill players and acts like he's a skill player. He's a 3rd liner.

you're pathetic. Idk the history of the Islanders, but the Devils have done nothing to warrant whatever negative future you assume they'll have. Most teams just suck because they suck and can't build, manage, and coach a Cup winning team- see the Rangers. The Islanders may have been in the same boat. From what I remember, they made a handful of stupid signings and were mediocre year after year. Then Dipietro (which somehow doesn't circumvent the cap). Laugh all you want.
- MartysBetter88

and we have someone who doesn't understand the salary cap. 4.5 mil the first year. 4.5 mil the last year. 4.5 mil every year in between. Do you need a picture, or a pie chart or something? PS, he's been bought out, by our cheap as death owner no less, and didn't even have it count against the cap.

I'll take our team, prospects and cap space and enjoy the present and future.

For the last time ABSOLUTELY ZERO Devils fans like Clowe's contract. WE ALL think he's being overpaid and the term is too long.

All we're saying is that being as he's signed, we think he can be a productive player on our team. Does that mean we think he'll be $4.8mil good? No. No one does.

I don't really get it, I've always considered Devils/Islanders as a sort of "friendly rivalry" if you will. Not anything near the hatred of Devils/Rangers or Islanders/Rangers.

But Islanders fans feel the need to come in here and troll us because their team looks better than ours for the first time in 30 years.

For as much as I thought that contract was ridicolous, I wanted the guy back with the Rangers if they could fit him in at a reasonable number -- i.e., 3 years/9 million or something like that. Unfortunately, the Rangers couldn't fit him, and the number got crazy. But, he is an effective player.

As long as he doesnt shoot at an absurd 2.8%, he'll be better in terms of goal scoring.

And the funny thing is that they only made it in the playoffs as an 8 seed. Let's see how there team holds up over 82 games.

Clowe is at the least, a year too many. At the least, a mil too much. 3.5/4 years i'd be ok with. But whatever. hope for the best.

I want Brunner. we MUST get Brunner. He's streaky, and played well with mostly Datsyuk (and we have NO ONE like Datsyuk), but he has potential.
He's small at 5'11, 185lbs. But this was his FIRST year in the NHL, so consider it an adjustment year. Maybe he'll be even better this year.

Boyes may be interesting to look into too. 10g, 25a in 48gp.. albeit mostly with Tavares.

I guess which would be the better option for top/2nd line? Boyes or Zubrus?

ALSO- keep in mind we need players who are good in shootouts. We know why we need another shootout stud. You need to outscore the opponent in SO; scoring 1 goal won't get the W.

Ryder addressed so many issues, but now ALL of those issues are back. 1 step forward, 3 steps back. Maybe Brunner has that potential?

Brunner-Henrique-Zubrus
Elias-Zajac-Ryder
Clowe-Josefson-Olesz
Carter-Gionta-Bernier

worst case scenario, I'd like that. Lou HAS to get Brunner. He's the best UFA left. Boyes and Raymond would be next on the list. They can't rely on Tedenby, Olesz to hopefully both pan out. Gota get 1 more guy.

It's crazy how losing one player has pretty much had the effect of losing an entire top line.

Because we never had a top line, it was Kovy + whomever we played with Kovy.

Elias-Zajac-Ryder should be the top line next year unless something monumental occurs.

stay far away from Boyes and Raymond. Boyes is defensively lazy and prone to turnovers, can't pass the puck and skate at the same time and whiffs on open nets often. He's not worth any kind of money and playing him in your top six the stats will only look okay if someone carries him. He was done in Buffalo and this last season is all smoke and mirrors with him. Raymond is another guy who's not going to produce enough to play in your top six, has tremendous speed but lacks finish and consistency. He, to me, is a lot like Gerbe. Just not worth it.

Jagr might be a temporary fix at least on the PP when he has some time and space. I agree with you on Brunner, I think he is likely the best of the rest left.

Ok. So no to Boyes. No to Raymond.

Jagr has left me scarred for life after seeing him barely be able to move in the playoffs. That was depressing. He'd be an interesting add, in addition to Brunner, but one would question whether Tedenby of Olesz would be more useful than a crippled Jagr.
