On the Jagr point, I think that people look at the fact that he didn't score in the playoffs, and say he stunk. I watched alot of those Boston playoff games, and he was really effective and noticeable, even if it didn't lead to goals, in which department he was somewhat snakebitten.
As to Brunner, I think the Devils should approach that one with caution. He can score goals, that is true, but he tailed off significantly as the season progressed, and there is a reason why the Red Wings weren't interested in re-sigining him, and he hasn't been resigned to date. He is somewhat soft, and there are substantial questions about whether he the type of player that is willing to pay the price. - Pete V
I watched every game as well and Jagr was a non-factor. He skated poorly. Not too mention he is 41 years old. No point to sign anymore old players because the Devils are filled with them. The Wings did offer a contract to Brunner...They offered him another short term deal simply because he has no NHL Resume. Brunner put up 5G 4A in 9 postseason games. Pretty good. Now I know that is a small sample size but if you could ink Brunner for 2.5-3million, that's a deal good sir. |

How much do we think Henrique is signing for? What I'm getting at is, could we possibly get both Brunner and Jagr? |

Too bad he'd be your team's second best defenseman this year. I guess you think your posts get better the more laughing faces you add. Well done. - BarryB1124

Pretty much since the lockout last year it sounds like... Here's this is a good link with a complete timeline of his devils tenure.

Thanks -- so is there any sense that maybe the timing of this decision isn't such a bad thing from a financial perspective? No real chance to spend to make up the loss and the bankers save some big coin? |

The "tide will turn" when the devils miss the playoffs for 7 years in a row and the isles win another 3 cups.... but until then, here's a championship ring from this millennium - JohnPaulNJ95

If henrique gets more than 3.5 ill be angry. Henrique isn't a dynamic player like Patty or Ryder who can generate without any "awesome" players.

Jagr wouldn't sign with the Devils. He is looking to win a cup and right now, New Jersey is not the place to do that. He'll sign somewhere else. - twitchingwalrus
Kind of like how he was gunning for a cup when he signed with Dallas? |

Makes it a hell of a lot easier for JvB to get another investor. Short term this sucks but long term it actual helps a real lot. Not strapped into a long deal with a guy who doesn't want to be here. |

A ring is a ring and the Isles won 4 of them in a row. What's your point? |

I don't know what your problem is but you should find something better to do with your time. A lot of Devils fans on here were rooting pretty hard for the Islanders in the playoffs. Coming in here and being a complete @ss about everything isn't going to do anyone any favors. - Todd.Cordell

Jagr isn't the answer. he is old. He blew in the post season too. Damien Brunner is the answer. If Lou can sign him 3 years at 3mill per. That would be awesome. He already denied the Wings offer to him. It was a short team deal...maybe abother 1 or 2 year deal. I want Brunner (Vanek would be nice but we have no trading chips), Morrow, or at least Raymond. - ILWT3
Would have been hilarious had they traded Kovi yesterday and have him retire after the paperwork went through. |

How much cap space do we have left now? I can't see how Henrique gets more then 3.5 million. |
