Ok Ok I'm done. I'm not actually a dack who likes to troll. I just wanted to know what it felt like to be a dack to another fan base and to be honest most of you are ok. I do however remember a score of Devs fans coming over to our blogs on a regular basis to troll over the years. I hate trolls and I actually felt dirty playing one today. But like most good actors you have to absorb yourself into the role and become the actual character (only 2 not 100 this time) I'm happy as an Islander fan that a division rival took a serious blow to their team but as a die hard hockey fan to another what you're going through sucks. It was all in good fun for the most part so I'll expect some negative feedback to this post but its all good.

A team would take Clowe as long as he doesn't get concussed this year.
I still don't think the Devils are going to sell Ryder/Clowe at the deadline who we just signed. Lou knew Kovy was leaving before he signed them I guarantee that. I mean Kovy mentioned it to him LAST year. You think a GM of Lou's caliber didn't have a plan B (just in case Kovy left) ? well then you all are crazy. Sell A-train (if we can) Bryce (if we can) ..and Zubrus. The rest stay.

If he's so great, then what was the plan in terms of keeping the 29th pick when you have to give up a pick in the next 3 years. If Any other GM on any other team did that they'd be called every name in the book for that kind of stupidity. I really can't wrap my head around what he was thinking nor can I wrap my head around the fact that no one here gives him any flack for that now.

The idea was that we needed the prospects sooner rather than later, which was true. It was a risk, but Lou was trying everything he could this offseason to make the pick as high as he could. Really blew up in our faces with the whole Kovalchuk thing.

I live in the Bay Area (Northern Cal) and have watched Clowe his entire career in SJ.

He isn't that good. You guys got the big giant shaft. lol.

I'd take Clutterbuck as well. As an Avs fan, I got to see plenty of him as well in the NW over the years.

I think you should maybe watch more west coast puck before you talk. Clowe didn't score a single goal for the Sharks last season. They were all in NY.

He seems to be a magician in pulling moves that no other GM seems to be able to - getting Loktionov for a 5th (highly touted prospect), getting Schneider for less than was expected it would take, etc... but when it comes to contracts, especially reactionary signings, one has to wonder if he has lost his mind. And not giving up the 29th pick seemed dumb, but in hindsight grabbing a forward enabled the team to take Damon Severson later and from what Todd says (and I am a huge proponent that Todd knows what he is talking about) Severson is going to be a stud and there isn't a DMan in this past draft he would take over Severson.

Wasn't saying he didn't accomplish great things. Was saying that decision was really really awful and any attempt to explain it is a lame one. He really (frank)ed up and seems to take no heat for it as he should. I don't think he had a plan for forfeiting the pick. I think he was just putting it off because "who cares about 4 years from now." sort of thing. Has nothing to do with what he accomplished in the past.

EDIT: Amazing resume but more than a few laughable (frank) ups later on? See Sather, Glen....................... Game. Set. Match. Don't give me the resume argument for how he can't make a mistake.
