initially I did laugh, I'll admit it. I do feel bad for Devils fans though, considering all that franchise gave up to get Kovy to have him comment about respecting contracts during the lockout, to walk away from his for more money in the KHL.

If this had been, say Tavares (wouldn't happen I know, but a huge blow if something like that did) I'd be devastated. I'm not going to point and laugh at them for that because I never thought he'd bail on them. I criticize the Clowe contract, and the term for Elias, but I won't kick the Devils fans on Kovy when they're down.

Ok. So no to Boyes. No to Raymond.

Jagr has left me scarred for life after seeing him barely be able to move in the playoffs. That was depressing. He'd be an interesting add, in addition to Brunner, but one would question whether Tedenby of Olesz would be more useful than a crippled Jagr.

IMO, the Devils need to be careful not to chase the inside straight to make this year's team serviceable. One year contracts on veterans may be the way to go, rather than making a long term mistake out of desperation.

What would be hysterical is if a franchise actually went 20 years without winning a playoff series....

I really don't think any of the free agents left will be able to leverage "long term mistake" type money.

with Milbury and the stellar owners we've had over the past 20 years the fact the franchise is still actually alive is remarkable.

Agree 100%. Lou has made some decent signings Post-Lockout(s), but the "reactionary" signings when they lose big pieces have reeked of panic. Rafalski leaves, they sign Malakhov, McGillis. Clarkson leaves, they sign Clowe for too much. I hope they make a smart move here, regardless of what it is.

whats even more hilarious is their fans now trying to trash on a team that has won 23 playoff series in that same time period....

Although when you first came on the board a few weeks ago, you seemed like a bit of a Richard, but you've shown to be a lot better than that. Please disregard any of my posts about the isles. You haven't gone full on retard and felt the need to put 100 emoticons with every post.

And your fanbase has stuck through it, to your great credit. It's easy to support a team that wins all the time. Much harder to support one that doesn't.

And if they missed the playoffs entirely 13 times, and won a total of 8 games in the 6 series they actually qualified for. Yes I looked it up.

Honestly, who really cares? We all pick our teams for different reasons, and when I was growing up in the New York area, I could have chosen to root for the Islanders during the height of their dominance. I chose the Rangers, for what reason god only knows. I actually think it is kind of a badge of honor to support a team that doesn't win much. Hell, it's not like any of us have any control over whether the team wins or loses.

I actually have no problem with the term for Elias. He has been one of the most consistent players I've ever seen and has aged very well.

Last year was weird for all Devils players, but look in 2011-12. Elias was top 10 in points in the entire NHL. Seems ridiculous but it's true. He had more points than Parise.

I live in the Bay Area (Northern Cal) and have watched Clowe his entire career in SJ.

He isn't that good. You guys got the big giant shaft. lol.

I'd take Clutterbuck as well. As an Avs fan, I got to see plenty of him as well in the NW over the years.

I think you should maybe watch more west coast puck before you talk. Clowe didn't score a single goal for the Sharks last season. They were all in NY.

Serious question. Will any of you devil fans move with the team when they relocate to Seattle or Quebec?

Its more the coming on our board, posting 100 emoticons with every post and reveling in our current situation then we will make fun of 20 years of futility. I really would love to stop discussing the islanders on this board, as I get no gain from their 20 years of futility.

I'm a Mets and Jets fan. I understand the badge of honor and character it takes to root for a team in a perpetual state of suck. I never start any sports-related smack talk. This was retaliation. You wanna get a shot in? OK. But this guy passed obnoxious 10 pages ago.

accurate assessment and I don't hate the Devils, I despite these terrible contracts that got handed out immediately after the same contracts were bought out. I hate all of them and find it ridiculous we sat through a lockout to have the same bad business practices repeated. I may hate Clowe's deal and think it's the worst of this year's ufa signings (player, value, term combination) but it doesn't mean I don't respect what the Devils have done as a franchise.

Move allegiance or actually pack up and move? Have you seen the real estate market? I'd never get what I owe on my home.
